Mister Stan I have a question ,I have been watching your posts for over a year, and in one of them you guys mentioned the name of a Greek fellow artist that the US department of education, had him draft a drawing manual .. I can't remember which video that was in ..🙏 can you remember his name, I'm pretty sure it was you that threw the name in to the conversation. I lost my laptop in which I had the specific info and I don't know why but that type of scribbling I like

The concept of Ant-man Hulk is absolutely terrifying.
Would really appreciate a comic inking render vid. Never really understood how comic artists figure out where to shade all that black.

i think its kind of like the posterize effect in Photoshop where it reduces the values down to light, dark mid-tone and with the lines you use thin lines (sometimes even no lines) for where there is more light on an object and thicker lines for heavier shadows. Also you can graduate the line width with pen pressure or using brush pen and drawing at different speeds. Would be very good to see in a video though

Our editor Melanie came up with the idea and then Alex executed it amazingly haha
how quickly he can put a basic sketch together , its masterful. a great artist can take a long time to work, but a masterful artist that can draw so quickly for me is another level of impressive!
That was so inspiring to hear the story before getting hired, expecially the six months of serious prep for the real world. Glad it happened!

As a classically trained artist, who’s switching to comic styles, I tell everyone the same exact thing about “connecting the dots” ! Love that he said that ! He’s great for stuff like this
Those tips on hair really blew me off, he is a fantastic teacher.
Ryan is an incredible wholesome person.
There's something magical in watching the real pros draw
Love the red pencil explanation, loved the mini Hulk story!
“David banner” is a rapper signed to def jam. He meant Bruce banner haha. I love that connection

Actually David banner was snag that we called Bruce banner in the 80’s tv show. I assume he is referring to that.
@floatingdisembodiedhead8975

There's a little backstory why some people called him that. "David" is his middle name or maybe it was Bruce. Stanley always had trouble remembering names, hence why most of his creations has alliterative names to make it easy, like Peter Parker or Reed Richards. Although evidently he still has trouble with it. One day he forgot Bruce's name and just called him David Banner in the comics. So when a reader asked him about this he said that his full name is Bruce David Banner, hence why it stuck for people who were from the older generations.
It's so fascinating, listening to Ryan. 20 minutes is too short, I would pay him a drink in a bar and listen to him all night long. :) It's funny, Jim Lee's X Men is the first comic I bought with my own money back in the days, and it was a huge punch in my face. 25 years later, it's still a huge influence for me.

What do you like about Jim Lee? I prefer jeans Lee anyday.
Love this. And as a dad, I especially loved hearing about his dad's support of his work.
The story was so amazing. He is so passionate and you can literally see he loves what he is doing.
His face drawing made me think he was inspired by Wildcats and by then end i was proven right. It's funny how the "DNA" of your influences bleed through. Artists belong to a pretty cool lineage.
i wish i could get that level of passion for art back
I want to see so much more of Ryan Benjamin! I LOVED LOVED LOVED hearing about his foot through the door with Image, this video was excellent!
It's nice to see this style of comic art is still alive and well. The medium has seen a lot more variety especially in super-hero genres which is good but the semi-realistic/gritty style is my favorite.
Can we just get a whole course on nothing but comic book styles featuring Mr. Benjamin and Mr. Finch? That would be awesome.

Lots of great advice from a great artist. I saw a KZread video of a comic book artist who spent about 12 years making a comic book. Listen to Ryan and work fast and efficiently. Proko videos are brilliant. ❤️🖌️🎨

Hi, Stan. Have you ever thought on inviting a mangaka like Yusuke Murata(one punch man) or Takechi Obata(Death note) to one of your videos, or talk bout their styles ?
Ryan Benjamin is just great, and not just artistically. Great vid!
What an interesting video! I was never really into comics, but his passion is inspiring!!!! He really makes me want to draw more often! It just goes to show what can happen if you follow your interests and put in the hard work!!!! Congratulations to him and thanks for wowing us with his talent!!!😁
From that starting scribble you can see he's done it thousands of times and could do it blindfolded.
Oh my gosh, I just love him...... and his story, he's so sincere, honest and dedicated......
Nail the eye first , soo true

Loved this!
Nice talk and video! Thanks Proko!
So good! Ryan is a lovely person
You make it look so easy.
Though I don't like a part of his attitude which sounds like "Overwork yourself with art until you burnout" - because I have had that in small scale and I can't recommend being exhausted from art mentally and physically - I really loved listening to him and watch him draw! He seems like a very symphathetic person! =)
This guy is awesome!
God bless you Ryan! 😀
Awesome story of sticking to it until you make it! Great video!
Brett Booth is insanely good!

That explains why your style is very similar to Jim's. He's definitely my top 2 favorite artists.
draw everyday. that should be a religion itself for us artists. i wish i started doing this in my teens or early twenties. ive been drawing everyday in the last 5 years now. i have gotten better but i probably would have been way better if i started ten or fifteen years ago.
Love your story 😊

He has an awesome story! Amazing personality too :)
