Спорт

HOLY GRAIL: the Planing Jibe Tutorial series by the WINDSURFCOACH.
No matter if you're a happy free rider or a wannabe slalom racer.
For quite some the planing/power jibe is the holy grail of windsurfing.
This is episode 1 of 3 in which I'll break up the planing jibe for you, with as a goal that, with the help of these video's, you'll be able to do the planing jibe yourself.
Of course it will take a lot of effort to get that planing jibe into your system, but I know you have it in you.
YOU CAN DO IT!
STUDY, PRACTISE, EVALUATE, REPEAT
If you already can do a planing jibe but it just doesn't feel right, the video's might give you an insight into how to do them more consistently and smoother.
Have fun watching and let me know what you think in the comments below.
See you on the water!

Great video. Concept of pulling up your front foot instead of pressure on backfoot was new to me. I'll give it a try!

Hi Olof, (Dream team rules) Thank you! If you take a closer look at the footage of the PWA races you'll see they all use the same technique. Pulling up on your front foot comes naturally when you lean into the turn instead of standing over your board. So focus on leaning into the the turn and forward. Have fun practicing and .... See you on the water!!!

Hi Arnout, that is true for quite a few windsurfers. My goal is to provide you with the best tools possible so that the chances for succes are as high as possible. Then it's up to you to study, practice, evaluate and repeat It would be fantastic if everybody could experience that feeling of a planing jibe. Have fun practicing and.... See you on the water!

I'll have to dust off the windsurf board to bring this in to practice!

Hi Joris, every little now and then it's great to leave the foil at home and take the fin for a session and reconnect with the water. That raw feeling of blasting over the chop is next to non. Have fun practicing and... See you on the water!!!

Hmm. Great technique, but do you modify any part of it for serious chop ? Our sailing venue hardly ever has perfect conditions like where this video was shot.

Hi Antoine, These are the basics that will get you ready for the choppy conditions. For choppy conditions you really need to exaggerate every aspect I've explained. So really bent those knees, sheet in hard and really lay it down by leaning into the turn and forward. But I a race I also try to find the line that is as chop free as possible and plan my sail/foot switch "downhill". See you on the water!!
