this is the only one that comes to my mind. Even JLC is not 100% desiderable. L&S is just insanely amazing on every single watch

Shane Hegarty You’re definitely not wrong. I think a large part is because every model is different enough you’d be happy to have all of them at the same time. If you look at some of its competitors, such as Vacheron Constantine or Patek, there’s a lot of overlap in model lines, particularly with dress watches (probably worst with VC). For example, if you want a VC dress watch, you want a Patrimony, a Traditionelle, or a Malte, but you probably don’t want all three. By comparison I’d be happy with having a Lange 1, a Saxonia and an 1815 in the same collection. Heck, there’s even enough diversity within each model line to the point you could build a full collection of only Saxonias, L1s, or 1815s.

@@gpearce11 Absolutely. There's a continuity of design ethic throughout Lange, yet each model is so distinctive.

I am a simple man, I love haute horology, I see A Lange, I click like. Simple.

A.Lange& Söhne would be my choice over Patek, Breguet and Journe if I was in the market for a high-end piece. Great video

Great video. This is one of the best video on Lange. After all the deliberations we always come back to Lange because nothing really compares. Complicated inside but understated outside.

There are some independent watchmakers that are on the same level i think. But from the big brands yes indeed.

Great video once again. For me I'm not a massive fan but the first watch you described was my favourite. Just the back of case is a work of art in itself. Nice simple design and as you say it goes under the radar. Some will say if I'm spending this much on a watch I want it to be noticed.but a classic watch in my eyes should fly under the radar.

Another absolutely outstanding video ID Guy! A. Lange & Sohne are one of my favorite brands. I got a chance to get up close and personal with them at Watch Time NY back in October. I was able to try on the Datograph and a Zeitwerk. I was totally blown away by the finishing on these watches. Unfortunately I wasn't able to try the 1815 or the Lange 1 on but I am going to go to the Lange Boutique in Manhattan and do so. Maybe one day I can add one of these grail level pieces to my collection.

Great video! To me the saxonia thin is the best dress watch, it is so minimal in the front but when you turn it around you discover a whole world inside such a small space, it is in my top 3 right next to the journe c.b and the mb&f thunderdome

The best thing about Lange watches is.... Normally to me the dial color either makes or breaks a watch, but not with Lange.

You note on the Saxonia the printed logo. They actually choose the space in between each letter. It’s not just a standard font type you could find in Word or something. Found that a really interesting point when I found out .

Spot on, especially the comment about not being cheated if you bought a lower priced model.......I like all of them but the reality is that They don’t fit into my life but yes apirational

Andy Corso The finishing is probably the best part about Lange. They’ve be very clear from the start, when you pay more for a different models compared to others, you are never paying for better finishing. Rather, you only ever pay for extra complications. I feel VC could stand to follow their lead, as the vast majority of VC models are Geneva Seal certified, but some cheaper models aren’t (most notably the basic FiftySix), and it brings down the whole brand’s prestige, at least compared to if they could legitimately claim to be “Entirely Geneva Seal Certified”, as probably the only major brand to be so.

Good point, not a fan of VC ........too much Maltese cross theme plastered over everything......

Yet I just love the watch and it’s beauty I will send it back to Lange too get it fixed

I would say it is overrated in the watch community but it is underrated in the public. I found many people to be overestimating the watch like saying Lange is the perfect watch and things.

I agree to an extent about the watch community “overrating” Lange. Few voices doubt Lange’s prowess, but fewer watch lovers buy them. The general public doesn’t know they exist (like many other watch companies). Rolex and Patek seem to suck the oxygen from the room. Lange needs both enthusiasts and marketing to increase brand awareness. Chicago just received its first Lange Boutique. We need to see more of them in the wild!

damn it. Lange makes some of the best watches, full stop.

Marcus G holy trinity is marketing of past realisations. This is real beauty and craftmanship of today. Just compare the achievements of inhouse design (neglect G.Genta) and be stunned of the really poor designs of PP, AP and VC.

That would pretty much be a Datograph. The model with perpetual calendar is maybe my pick of anything on the market. I'm never going to spend that level of cash on a wristwatch, but I appreciate its existence.

One day I hope.

Lange 1 my grail watch, black dial. Love the Zietwerk, but intimidating. Saxonia thin blue copper dial, dare I say rivals FP Journe chronometre bleu. Still think A. Lange & Sohne should be in the trinity.

At around 150k a piece, theZeitwerk is nice to wear if you have some security staffers around... I mean - your *personal* security staffers...

I'll see your 1815 chronograph and raise you a Lange Datograph. This and the JLC Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpetuel are the 2 best and most beautiful watches in the world at the moment, in my opinion.

What can I say A.Lange & Sohne makes the most beautiful watches, The Germans beat the Swiss to me respect in every aspect to A.Lange & Sohne you got it more than right.

Is there a watch from AL&S that ISN’T a beautiful masterpiece? That being said, my grail watch is the Langematic Perpetual 310.026

That first watch is just to plain for that price. Beyond that i love every watch they made. The 1815 chronograph is amazing. The zeitwork and the perpetual calender are my favorite. And i will hurt some people. The lange 1 is by far not my holy grail.

And how does the new Odysseus join the line up. Or is it a miss and should never be included in this line-up???

Lange is amazing. However, Glashutte Original gives you a Senator Chronometer tourbillion in platinum for a price of a simple Saxonia. You should check them out. They are the best value watches of all time. While we are on a topic of German watches, I think you should make a video about all Bauhaus watches, including Nomos and Junghans together. I really love Junghan's chronoscope. Wait, how about a stream on German watches?

Tippy Kaffu while I don't disagree that GO offers good value, I'm not sure if you're being serious but there's no way a GO platinum tourbillon is the same price as a simple Saxonia.

I'm an Architect, I love ALS but I don't like Lange1 lol.

I would give a kidney for a Datograph.

I have a Lange 1 with blue dial I bought second hand and the winder fell out

I don't care for the term of Grail or Holy Grail unless it's the Monty Python movie.

Good video, but chronographs are not dress watches.

The truncated 5&7(esp. 7) of 1815 up&down really bug me a lot.
