    Yes another thing on the 510 C only takes one slot on rail W/Quick detach👍the 512c You need three slots my current set up I cannot go all the way forward with my Saint pistol which is kind of a bummer. I really do like the idea of the enclosed Circle dot though just seems clearer very nice.

    I'm still leaning to the 510 c... It's lighter, it's smaller, I think these enclosed ones have a glare issue. That might just be the aems though. It has a quick release. I don't need a quick release for a battery.

  • @chiya2006

    @chiya2006

    Жыл бұрын

    Your concern should really be the highlighted decision making point. Let’s be realistic: why would meds QD on 510c ? If you’re to mount to a new gun, it’s all about one screw to loosen up. Which could be once in a few years maybe. Then come battery tray on 512c , again not important. When you need to change the battery, it’s only 2!screws. So the main focus is on emitter. Yes if you use it for hunting, then on a snowy day, snow could accumulate quickly and block the emitter. Or rain. On 512c you have emitter inside worry free. By the way the gun being heavy is not a bad thing, it will help with recoil tho. Most important thing is solidness, hold zero, good battery life are essential to making any decisions. I need to buy one myself. I wish 512c had a Tan colour with green dot like 510c has

    I wouldn’t call the 512 an absolute co-witness height optic. The height to center for absolute co-witness is 1.41” to center of optic from rail for standard iron sights. The 512 is 1.38” to center of optic from rail. So your standard height iron sights would actually cover the center red dot if you tried to co-witness with the 512 while the optic is on. If it’s off, sure, you’d still be able to use your irons to co-witness. The 510 is the correct 1.41” height to center. So it’s fine.

    That’s great information to know, I had no idea. I own a couple of 510c but no 512. I wonder why Holosun didn’t make the 512 at correct co witness height? Personally I like having my red (dot) sitting right on top of my front iron sight. Hopefully they have a riser that can place it at co witness or lower 1/3 height.

Maybe add in your experiences with using the optics shooting in different light settings and can add your perspective on daylight bright and dimming abilities. Again, good job. Question...I have a 510c I’ve had for a few years on a 12 gauge. Pretty hard use with zero issues. I also have an astigmatism. Nothing too bad but enough that Eotechs are a no go but my 510c looks really good. Kind of assuming 512 is essentially 510c build and innards just with a closed emitter. Anyone notice any difference in glass clarity/transmissivity from the 510 to the 512?

As you were covering your points about each sight, you would tap on it several times with the tool. I actually wondered if you were even aware of it, as it seemed to be sub-conscious. Watch your video again, you'll see what I mean. Again, your video was helpful and had a lot of great information. LIke I said, this is just my opinion, and if you asked me to compare two takes of the same point, one with tapping and one without, I would choose the one without. Ouch, the start of your video was kinda painful to watch. A good advice would be to do multiple takes. Even the best of Hollywood actor and actresses have to do many of takes. Nothing wrong with that. Now as to your comparison, very good with the details and differences my brother. Love the side by side comparison as well as describing and showing each sides. I would go with the 510c. Not because it is lighter, but just because its plain out sexier. Liked the video and definitely subscribed.

    The enclosed emitter is more likely to fog if damaged, the open style emitter cannot fog because the humidity level is equal on both sides of the glass. Just like if you break the seal on a car headlamp moisture can get in which is what causes the fogging. Everything else you're spot-on

  • @PerformanceFirearmsChannel

    @PerformanceFirearmsChannel

    Well I haven’t had my 512 fog yet. But the open emitter can fog. Ever been in a car with Cold a/c Pull out the rifle and boom it’s fogged? It’s happened in Florida a lot. So far my 512 and 509T have not fog. But my 508t and 510c have. Gun optics aren’t car headlights. For one car headlights are not nitrogen purged. So don’t compare apples to oranges.

I don't mind that the emitter is open, as I don't have any need to use it outdoors in a SHTF scenario (I have other firearms for that role). Vote Trump 2020 if you care about your 2A rights.
