Holosun 407k vs 507k - Pistol Optic Comparison

What the heck is the difference between these two optics? There are other differences such as slight difference in operating and storage temperature but that is it. As you can tell in the video, I carry the 507k, because it has the smaller dot.

507K has 3 reticle settings. Dot. Circle. Circle with dot. That’s where the price difference comes from.

Yes true! I realized a little bit after the video that I never included the reticles. Serious question, do you prefer just a dot or the ring and the dot?

@@DigitalArmory_ personally, the 407k. It’s what I’m running. I prefer the 6 moa dot vs the 2. Easier for self defense/EDC as most encounters will likely be at close range so no need for the smaller dot. Don’t plan on shooting anything at 50+ yards with a Glock.

Poor comparison. That is not the only difference. The entire purpose of the 507 is the 32 MOA circle reticle you didn't bother to turn on.

I know, it was an oversight (no pun intended) on my part. However, it is mentioned in the comments a few times but it isn’t only the ring, they reduce the dot size to 2 moa so that the reticle doesn’t just look like a giant red blob with the ring on.

The reticle option is the difference for the 507K and that’s why it cost more. Most people just run a single dot anyways so 407K will work unless you want the smaller dot.

That’s right, I imagine it’s hard to do the circle around a 6 moa dot without it just looking like one giant dot.

For $60, not worth it. Especially then.. ANOTHER $30 (OR $100 more than the 407), you get the EPS carry. Im waiting for my slide to be milled, deciding on 407 or EPS carry. Probably 407

@DigitalArmory_ all 3 should be the same footprint, no? That being the K. My slide will be milled so no plate needed for any K footprint. I think..

lol I woke up this morning, thought back to this and realized I’m an idiot. For some reason in my head I was thinking full size optics lol. Yes, the 507k, 407k, eps, and eps carry are all K footprints and no adapter plate is needed if you are cut for that footprint. Now, I do think the eps is slightly longer but I don’t remember off the top of my head. So with that in mind, a closed emitter could definitely be a better pick.

@DigitalArmory_ haha yeah I wasn't going to say anything. Although can't speak for a base EPS, the EPS Carry did rest on while I was doing some test fitting/comparing. At the time I used a plate but all 3 swapped right out. But yeah the enclosed is a important feature. A tad bit "boxier" than the other two. This would be on a 43x. $330. Comes with a RMSc/K plate. Won't need it but worth saving for another setup.
