What I know about Mikochi based on this video alone: 1. Mikochi does not understand what is going on, a variation of “This sign can’t stop me because I can’t read”. 2. Mikochi has no sense of rhythm. 3. Mikochi probably lacks patience.

'Ao' is, or used to be, a much wider band of color than just blue, as perceived by Asian conventions, and it encompasses green as well. Look it up, Wikipedia has a few interesting articles on that phenomenon. In a nutshell, green is still to this day 'ao' when it comes to traffic lights. No one uses 'midori' for that.

ao can also mean green in Japanese, midori is usually used for trees, grass's kind of green, while ao's green usually used in traffic lights, car lights and stuff. Or to be more precise, ao is a word for a wider band of color varying from blue to green, whereas midori's only used for green.

For example, in Japan, 緑野菜(midori yasai) green vegetables have been called "青野菜(ao yasai) blue vegetables" since ancient times. This is a remnant of that influence. The word 緑 midori originally meant grass growing in a field. The word 青ao (blue) was used earlier than the word 緑midori (green) as a word dealing with color.
