So true. 20 years ago I had a friend that pretended to be a girl in World of Warcraft and got so much money and free shit given to him, it was crazy. He even got into the best raid guild on the server because of it and was carried through content.

You can buy gold legally, by buying in game bonds. They can be exchanged for membership or sold for gp to other players. they are $8.99 each or $89.90 for ten. the price right now per bond is 13m gp and the shadow is 1.3b, so you would need to buy 100+ bonds to afford the shadow. $900+

I'm conflicted by this. I feel like it's fine to have people assist her a little bit, especially since she's a new player (to modern osrs anyways), but what's the point of playing the game if people are gonna simp so hard that they give you every single item in the game? You miss/skip so much of the runescape experience if you don't have to actually work for any of it.

Thats fair and you right, but it's not like she will play the game until she gets to TOA level or anything. At most she'll do some of the bigger quests MAAAYBE and maybe the bosses you can do in a group and that's it

@@blinkin5 You're LIKELY correct. She probably won't get to TOA or TOB or anything like that. It would be cool if she stuck around enough, but it's her decision at the end of the day. Most players in general don't make it that far, but why spoil the experience either way? Why would she bother even thinking about potentially interacting with that content in the future if she can just get all the relevant items handed to her for free?

@@Ausar0 I don't think we need to think that deeply about it, I don't think she was thinking much when getting it other than "Oh wow this item has a price with big big number" I think that assuming that it may be a reason for her not to keep going on deeper down the line is kinda cope. I think even most new players that start out with normal accounts may just quit for some time, or even get friends to give them stuff but then they come back later ot the game and get properly "sucked in" the game and then they make something like an iron man when they actually become a OSRS player, or any variation of that, it's w.e, because she's a Vtuber first and foremost I don't think we should think much of it. 99% chance she just plays casually and that's it

It just kind of sucks that she really isnt experiencing the game. If this happened to me, I would quit within a week. Would be nice to watch her just play with the smallest amount of donations, if at all, to just buy supplies.

If Rissa gets into OSRS more I know exactly where my time spent watching streams will go.

@@Elit3Blaze I put the price estimate and coin comparisons in solely to help non-Runescape players visualize the staff's in-game value. Speaking from at least what I saw in places like the TF2 and Counter-Strike communities, RWT only helps build distrust between the playerbase and the devs, plus is absolutely swamped with scammers, so yeah I _highly advise_ against trying to put any game currency to USD conversions into practice. Keep those things as power level metrics. You're better off putting the skills needed to get these items into stuff like trying out esports, running a gaming channel, or even game devving instead, if anyone reading this is so much as thinking about going down the black market path.

It is against the rules, yes. That doesn't mean that the black market stops existing though. It's a useful metric to get an idea of what an item is worth, especially for people who don't play the game already. Showing the black market price isn't promoting engaging with the black market.
