I met Brian Keith when I was a little kid. He was in my town filming a movie. I waited near a door a long time until he finally came outside. He gave me his autograph. He was very nice to this little fan.

Always adored Brian Keith! He was terminally ill and chose not to be in agony or agonize others with the brutal end of the disease. Can't say that I blame him.

I was previously on a blood pressure medication for very high blood pressure that was life threatening. After taking it for a few weeks. I realised that this medication was making me feel so depressed that I could not function. I had overwhelming thoughts of just wanting to die and to get out of this world into a better place with the Lord.I had NO suicidal tendencies. Of course my blood pressure was lowered but after I recognised my behaviour, it became apparent that the medication made me feel this way, so, I stopped taking it. Within a day I was back to my normal bubbly and energetic and life loving self after stopping the medication. It's amazing what many drugs the mainstream doctors prescribe that can have an affect on you mentally.

Very interesting that a number of persons who had committed suicide had other family members that committed suicide as well.

+Anton Bouchette You kind of sound like you might be in the next montage. Talk to people. It really helps. When you isolate and are alone with your own thoughts you sat what you want to hear and that's not good even though you think it is. Talk to yourself and you'll hear what you want to know (Aerosmith). If you don't you will hurt people that love you even though you don't see that they do and you will make them feel as shitty as you and that will be on you and you will not rest in peace. Man up for Christ's sake!

So very sad....rich or poor, young or old....suicide does not discriminate. Aug 2013 I lost my youngest son to suicide, by hanging, at age 21. So many unanswered questions... One thing I hate to read is that they were "cowards" or "selfish" or the worst- "they took the easy way out"... people should never judge what they do not understand. It's taught me many things, one being to share kindness because you just never know what someone could be going thru... God bless them all 🕇 Love you Forever Jordan! ♡

I am sorry for your losses. I believe when a person is that troubled for whatever reason, it is out of their control. I believe in a loving God who takes them home where they are safe in his arms and out of emotional (and physical) pain. You will see them again one day in paradise.

Suicide is a horrible thing, fortunately nobody close to me has ended their life, but a work mate's daughter ended her life and i was close by when he received the call from his wife, the howl he made when he realised what he was being told, will haunt me forever. I know its a complex issue, but id hope people think really hard on what effect this would have on the people who love them.

I have been a firefighter for 29 years, and have seen more suicides than I care to remember, but still can't forget. But they weren't "beautiful" they weren't singers or actors. They didn't hang with the hip crowd. They were not the sons and daughters of Hollywood royalty, or multi millionaires. So there are no videos. No sad songs, nobody talking about how bad they will be missed, because they were talented and had so much to live for. But they all have one thing in common. They were all so sick that suicide looked like a good idea, and I find that sad. Suicide is not glamorous. It is hauntingly ugly. There is always a better alternative. Always.

as you've realised the point is when you are that low/ill/ confused the decision seems logical, rational and "for the best" you are so right though I've worked in situs where dealing with death was part of the job and it should not be romanticised.... it leaves familes lost, in pain and blaming themselves...have had severe depression s and came close a few times... what stopped me was knowing the pain, anger and confusion my children would have had to carry...

+PoppaBlue59 I completely agree with you but when you are in that much pain, it seems like the only thing that will solve every problem you have and you just want the pain to stop. At that moment, you are sick, maybe temporarily insane and completely irrational. Especially if part of your pain is believing nobody loves you and people would be better off if you were gone.

linda nicholls I agree Linda. I don't...not for a minute, mean to imply that people should "know better" or just "get over it". That would be like telling someone to get over cancer. I know that there is a darkness that is beyond understanding, unless you have been there. My wish is that these good folks just say "not today. I'm not gonna do it today" Maybe that would give them a little more time to find another answer. I wish I had better advice. Thank you for your reply.I know where you have been, I have been there too.

PoppaBlue59 I think when a person seriously thinks about commuting suicide they're not thinking of alternatives. They're caught up in the moment. At least some are. I hv battled depression and still does. The only thing that keeps me from going over the edge is my faith....and my disabled son. I would've want to leave here before God calls me home bc I wouldn't want to stand before Him trying to explain why I did what I did. 💒

+blackpeter70 Might be best if you don't air such things about yourself via KZread. Understand where you're at as I've had depression for 30+ years, but have a talk with your physician about medication and he/she should advise regular blood tests to ascertain what medication and level is best for you. You may do this already, but your 'writings' display behaviour where you are not in a good headspace. If you're current Doc ain't helping you - just make the move and find someone who will. You'll then find your outlook on life etc.and way people see you as a person a much nicer existence. Good luck.

Of all of these, the one I remember that was the biggest shock was Freddie Prinze. He was incredibly popular and seemed so likable and happy. Some of the others seemed openly tortured mentally or just plain out of control, but Freddie Prinze was a stunner. I wasn't even a real fan of his, but he was someone you saw on tv or talk shows and just liked. Don't be afraid to ask, even a stranger, just never give up.

Dear Linda Nicholls, The first time I truly became aware of suicide was when I was in the seventh grade and saw on the news that Anissa Jones had died of a drug overdose. I was a big fan of "Family Affair," and it's particularly sad not only Jones' death, but also Brian Keith's suicide. I was not aware of his stepmother or daughter taking their own lives until seeing your video presentation here. There is such a fine line between life and death and sometimes the line can blur. There is nothing worse for a human being than the feeling of loneliness or rejection whether one is a celebrity or an every-day person. I understand your premise in using celebrities as a means to highlight depression and suicide. And I commend you for it...

Hervé Villechaize killed himself with a pistol shot to the head in his back yard, his health problems were because of his dwarfism making his rib cage was so small he was having trouble breathing, it had gotten so bad towards the end he had to sleep in a kneeling position because he couldn't breath laying on his back. Poor guy, RIP. Here are a few more notable suicide/unusual celebrity deaths: Nick Adams - accidental prescription drug overdose, much like how Heath Ledger died. Albert Salmi - suicide via handgun in murder/suicide after killing his wife Ola Brunkert (drummer for the pop group ABBA) - accidental bleeding death after cutting his neck when he fell through a glass partition at home Issadora Duncan - Neck broken when her scarf got caught in the real wheel of the car she was riding in Doodles Weaver - suicide via rifle Tom Mix - killed in a car accident when the aluminum suitcase he had sitting in the back seat smashed him in the back of the head Vic Morrow - decapitated by a helicopter while filming "The Twilight Zone Movie" Boris Segal - Partially decapitated when he accidentally walked into the tail rotor of a helicopter he was getting off Richard Farnsworth - Suicide via shotgun Charles McGraw - Bled to death after falling through a glass shower door

+Johnny Utah Jim Henson Sr. Died of Sepsis, a bacterial infection of the blood, which caused toxic shock. Somehow a virulent form of Staph or Strep got into his bloodstream, most likely through a small cut, and began multiplying overwhelmingly. When this type of bacteria die, they release a toxin into the bloodstream that causes the walls of blood vessels to become "leaky"; blood plasma leaks out into the body's tissues, depleting the intravascular volume, and causing a severe(and often quite sudden) drop in blood pressure, which causes hypoperfusion of the main organs. The main cause of death in these patients is usually respiratory failure, related to the severe leakage of the body's fluids into the lungs(the patient essentially drowns); or to multi-system organ failure related to the generalized hypoperfusion. Patients can die in under twelve hours from severe acute toxic shock - Jim Henson passed away about that long after the FIRST appearance of symptoms, which were initially like severe flu - sudden high temp, achy feeling, cough and running nose, just overall malaise. Most people also develop a characteristic fine red rash all over that does not itch, and in later stages may also show tiny pinpoint hemmorhages in the skin called petechiae. The rash has a very characteristic appearance and looks a lot like a sunburn. Sudden onset of flue-like symptoms and a bright red rash is an indication for a QUICK ER visit; early treatment is vital. Jim Henson delayed treatment by five or six hours and by the time he went to the ER, his blood pressure was already beginning to drop out and I believe (IIRC) they lost him to severe hypotension, which basically caused his heart to fail. Really sad.

I had no Idea that Lee Thompson Brown committed suicide. Such a sweet guy and wonderful actor, may he rest in peace. For those of us that have mental illness we keep it close to our chest. We smile when we are sad. We feel alone in a full room of people. It also runs in families like mine. And as you can tell from the Hemingway's. When a person has a limb missing we can see his pain, but you cant see this. I am lucky I seeked help, but for those of you that don't, just know there are people out there that can help, seek it and you shall find. God Bless

I work for DoD and our personnel training includes suicide training. New evidence and analysis is showing that those that commit suicide were not dwelling on it for months or years or because of long-term depression but more often, the decision to kill ones self is decided the day that they do it; that person decides that it's time and the decision is made because they feel that there is no alternate. This is why it is difficult to watch over someone and stop them because they'll make the choice when you're least likely to be around and given the chance, they'll decide it's time.

Hunter S. Thompson would've been a legit inclusion. I know though, Linda, that it's hard to think of EVERYone who might've fit the subject, but the tale of his suicide is pretty chilling. Another one that a lot of people don't know of is Ray Combs, the host of Family Feud after Richard Dawson. Combs went to great lengths to kill himself. His story is intense.

It isn't that I don't care. Several of my coworkers and a friend who was like a brother to me who was a successful therapist, community leader, chamber of commerce president and active in his local church at age 55 robbed a bank and then drove his car off a cliff when he got caught. It was shocking to all who knew him but if I made a video of all the suicides of unknown people, everyone would say "I never heard of any of these people". I don't believe any life is more important than another but I used celebrities because people know who they are, not because I think they are more important. I am sorry for those I left out or any mistakes I made.

+linda nicholls Your use of celebrities was brilliant in this. When people become famous in media, it is because they make personal connections with the viewers. When something happens to them, it is like it happened to a friend or even family member, though we do not really know them at all. We are all humans with real human problems, and depression tops the list. I thought your message was loud and clear. Nice work with this, Linda.

+linda nicholls I don't think you made a mistake. And your choice of music was perfect. Depression is not "sad", it's pain. And you never realize how overwhelming the pain is for the depressed person until you lose someone you love to it. And then you live with the guilt that you didn't see it coming...because they can hide it so well. In my family we had 'collateral damage" as my sister's suicide shortened my widowed mother's life by quite a few years. She simply grieved to death. What you have done is not only a lovely tribute, but an education or wake up for some. And I repeat what I didn't do myself: If you see a loved one in trouble and "wonder", don't wonder, take action and get them to someone who can help. Don't wait or second guess yourself or you could end up with losing them.

+linda nicholls Linda, thank you for this video. It's beautifully done, and I found it incredibly sobering. It certainly raises the issue in a non-confrontational way. I do take your point about using celebrities, that you're not saying they're somehow more important, or "worth" more, than the "average" person. But they are people that we can jointly be aware of, and their place in the public eye means that details can be conveyed that might not be able to be stated for more private people, and that helps understanding. I think also it serves to demonstrate that we can't know from outside a person what turmoil might be raging in their spirit; that even though they might appear to us to have all the ingredients for success and contentment, that people can still be staggered and in deep pain. I think that's important to be mindful of.

Correction on Robin Williams. You said asphyxiation where IMDB.com lists it as "(suicide by hanging)" Later it was found out that he hanged himself do to health issues which were depression, and recent knowledge that he had an early onset of Parkinson's Disease and dimentia.. Michael Jackson died of acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication at his home on North Carolwood Drive in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. at the hands of his personal physician, Conrad Murray who was hired to help Michael sleep. Michael Jackson's death does not fit the criteria of "Hollywood Suicides and mysterious deaths" Other than that, nice job, nice and fitting music choice.

+Vermillion 303 That's absurd. First of all, I don't knew the whole story in IN DETAIL. Michael hired Murray his doctor, to help him sleep in IN MONITORED setting where Michael would get the rest he needed. Remember who is the doctor here, and who is paid over $120,000.00 for ONE PATIENT and you are saying it's the patient's fault??!!? Also, the only reason why Michael had died was because the careless doc was found OUTSIDE OF THE ROOM talking to his girlfriend instead of monitoring his one patient. The jurors spent many hours and many months before they decided without any doubt, that threw that doc thrown him in prison. I imagine if that happened the same to your relative under the care of a doctor, would you feel the patient is in fault too? :[

Such a brilliant, musical talent too...so tragic! All these suffering, young lost souls taking their own lives from their tortuous illnesses are just so horribly tragic.

The truth of the pain in her song is so true. The pain in many eyes is the empties in their eyes is a mirror of what's happening inside. The wonderful hope is for all that have gone, is they are asleep in the dust of the earth, they will live again in the coming New World, when Jesus restores the dead back to a New Earth without the pain that took them away. Acts 24:15 Daniel 12 :2 Revelation 21:3,4. Isaiah 65:17 none of that pain will be called to mind. What a beautiful reflection on the GIFT of LIFE.
