I absolutely love how this potrays how Hornet is in both the protector battle and the sentinel battle. The line in the chorus "Shell within the void, you would seek the end" becoming "Shell within the void, you would *face* the end" in the sentinel section is a perfect example of how Hornet sees the Knight in the two fights.

@@williamhu8281 Well, "needles pulling thread" is a reference to Hornet's unique weapon: needle and thread. "Spiders pulling silk" could double as a reference to Hornet's spider heritage and her game, Silksong. Not exactly sure about that final part though... "They will have no pity if the dark is killed." The "dark" is in obvious reference to the Ghost and/or void creatures like the Shade Lord, but I'm not sure about anything beyond that.

The producers said "GIT GUD" and the voice actor took it seriously.

That transition from the first Hornet fight to Daughter of Hallownest was perfect, and I love the development of how Hornet sees the Knight!

I love how both Hornet and Daughter of Hallownest were used here. It gives a sense of progression and escalation to the clash between the Ghost and Hornet.

Oh MAN this is a STRONG start to the highly anticipated hollow knight bytes. if THIS is what all of these songs are gonna sound like i will be WELL satisfied, this is INCREDIBLE. i’m absolutely obsessed with the expansion of the lyrics since the initial songtober version, all the little hints at the wider lore of the game and hornet’s iron-willed personality and desire to test the knight are just so GOOD. and DAMN right when i was thinking “man this is giving me chills” emmy’s BELTING THE HIGH NOTES at the end of the song kicked in and HOOOOOOOOOLYYY GODDAMN??? emmy’s range never fails to impress me and the raw POWER behind it is outstanding. also, there’s something so deeply SATISFYING about the “needles pulling thread, spiders pulling silk” like, i can’t explain what it is but it itches my brain so much and just lodges itself in there. absolutely incredible. fantastic job everyone! can’t wait for more!

@@user-kj7pu1pi8k oh yeah ALSO "no one can hit enough to stagger her in 20" is wrong LIKE VERY VERY WRONG if we aren't including spells it only takes 11-12 hits to stagger one most people use spells and TWO: EVEN WITH ONLY NAIL YOU CAN HIT OVER 2 TIMES A SECOND (no quickslash duh) SO AT MAX IT TAKES 6 SECONDS IF YOUR CONSTANTY HITTING TO STAGGER EDIT: and its easy as hell to constantly hit if your good

Love how Broken Vessel’s song had the line “Shell within the void / Know this is the end / Broken and discarded / Ashes that descend” Meanwhile this one has “Shell within the void / You would seek the end / Who would claim the hollow / Let the light extend” and “Shell within the void / You would face the end / Claim the mark of kings / If kingdoms you’d defend” Is the line about shell within the void going to become a repeat appearance in Hollow Knight songs? I sure hope so because it’s really cool to see how each person addresses Ghost and the consistent “-end” words at the end of each line is a very fun theme. Edit: With the release of the Mantis Lords song breaking this pattern, it does appear that I’m wrong. Maybe it’s just the bosses relevant to the main story, in that case.

Good point, that's going to be really fun to hear. Ooh, if they do Sealed Vessel and/or Radiance that would be really neat because then it could be something like "Shell within the void / You have reached the end" or just something similar to aknowledge that Ghost has reached a final boss. Oh man, wait, if they do Radiance imagine how cool the voice would be- after seeing the Pokemon Legendary Bytes I know they'd do a great job emphasizing the divinity of the Radiance with both a skilled singer and cool voice effects

Take into account that the Mantis Lords don't necessarily know what the vessels are.

3:44 I like the reference to the broken vessel songtober song "shell within the void know this is the end" especially cause the next lines are both talking about the wyrm corpse "broken and discarded, ashes that descend" and "claim the mark of kings..." which is in the wyrm corpse.

I can't get over how much _power_ is in the singer's voice. It's beautiful. She really captured the determination Hornet has to protect the kingdom, a great choice for the role. And the lyrics are so cool! My favorite line is probably "I'll not hold back if the weak die at my blade," though I also really like how "Needles pulling thread, spiders pulling silk" sounds, it's very satisfying. And of course the callback to Broken Vessel with "Shell within the void" is a delight. Speaking of Broken Vessel... I wonder if this means we'll get a remaster? The original was already so good, but the "minimal polish" of Songtober was present. I can't wait to see how it turns out with more polish, it'd be amazing. Ooh, or Mantis Lords. That one was really good but I think it suffered more than BV from how Songtober works, it'd need a bit more time to hone it. I do wonder if the lyrics will stay the same for BV though, since "He wanted a son" always slightly irked me for the inaccuracy as the Pure Vessel is genderless.* Granted, it may not be literal, it's probably just easier to rhyme the word "son" than "child" because then "Only the perfect one" would have to be changed too. Who knows, we'll just have to wait and see if that song is planned. *Obligatory mention that this is canon. (Note how Hornet is _"The_ gendered child" according to the Deepnest midwife, which emphasizes that she is _different_ than her half-siblings for having a gender) People have argued with me on this before and I would prefer that not happen again, as it is exhausting. Please don't turn my replies into another warzone over what is and isn't canon due to me expressing an opinion over a line in an older video, we don't need that here. Just let people have their non-binary representation and enjoy the music. If I could I would not put this footnote because it just brings up unnecessary negativity but I have had enough run-ins with people like this to know that I need to. Edit: I am so glad that the line was changed in the new version :)

The line "He wanted a son" is intentional, and probably not just because of the rhyme. The vessels didn't know anything about the Pale King's plan, it's what it looked to be to them. Even if the vessels knew they were genderless, which is highly unlikely, they probably assumed that the Pure Vessel would take on the same role as a son.

Also I was referring to Jesus, not Isaac. The whole point of his story is he gets killed on behalf of his father. Do your research next time.

Tbh it seems more like he did it more to get people to stop than because he was technically wrong (earlier in the same song there is "but condemn the child who's on IT'S own"). The new rhyme, "flawless or reviled" doesn't really make sense, as it suggests the opposite of what the whole song has been emphasizing: that the Pale King wasn't picky about his vessels. If he had instead wrote "flawless and reviled" he could make the connection that the vessel deemed flawless by PK would be reviled by its envious siblings. I apologize. Something about how you called it "biblical mythology" made it sound like you were one of those anti-Christian to the point of irrationality people who take parts of the Bible completely out of context to try and frame God or something, hence why I assumed you were talking about Isaac.

This is genuinely stunning. Easily one of the best covers produced by the MotI team in recent times. I look forward to what other songs will be selected for the Hollow Knight Musical Bytes! I’m personally holding out hope for Sealed Vessel and/or Pure Vessel, but regardless of wether we get them or not, I know this package is gonna be phenomenal.

Same, I think Sealed Vessel/Pure Vessel would be awesome. It's such a tragic character and I adore it so much. The poor guy. I wonder how they'd handle a song like that given that? I mean, it seems to be able to scream now despite not having a voice before- did the Radiance grant it a voice to cry its suffering, or is it only her own voice echoing out of its shell? If they do give it a voice, what sort of voice would they give it? There's a lot to work with with a character like the Pure Vessel.
