I visited a friend at her apartment last month with a balcony that long (it ran the length of her apartment) and I had a similar reaction as well. I was just constantly saying how I’ve never seen a balcony that long and if it was all hers or if she shared it with neighbors or what. Feel like my life has changed after seeing that.

@@charleswashington3973 they mean, they hope people dont just use the ps1 style as a "well, ppl like this so it'll be good and scary no matter what" vs someone who actually put time and effort into the game but is just choosing the PS1 style for the looks and not a safety net. Kinda like how everyone copied Slenderman back when it was popular. People just took the "find 8 *insert object here*" format and did nothing special with it. They just banked on how everywhere reacted to Slendy and thought if they just copied it, they'd have a hit which wasn't the case and led to burnout. So yea, we don't want another Slendy moment.

Trading out the flashlight for the candle had me on edge, that took away any hope of some advanced warning before Hollow Head descended on you. Hollow Head itself may be simple, but it still a scary monster. Your interpretation of the endings fits perfectly for me. It wasn't too serious, but your Persona logic kind of fits the endings too, acknowledging your flaws and embracing them instead of seeking comfort and rejecting yourself.

That max brightness hurt my eyes if i watch in the dark. But full volume and fullscreen is good idea.

_You can run, you can hide, but you can't escape..._ The original itchio version is very similar with the same 2 choices but the rest of the game was expanded. I also liked the ambiance & tension caused by walking those halls with the flashlight - or the candle made it even worse. The interaction with the woman & having to go back & forth because of what she said almost made it into a horror fetch quest a little. That slow turn-around MBH & your ability to remember where the heck to go were wonderful & made the game!

The atmosphere in this game really was amazing, it also made me nostalgic for some unknown reason

This is actually pretty freaky! ;^; I used to live in a condo where they had a trash shoot like that in a dedicated garbage room. And it used to give me the creeps. It didn't really help that most of the apartments in the building were vacant.

Having all the power in your city go out can be scary. I lived in my hometown for almost thirty years, never had the power go out. Bout five years ago I was getting ready for work (around 10PM) when such a thing happened and it really spooked me. Maybe I watch to many horror movies, but I immediately became paranoid. At the time, I lived in a duplex on the third story, I had three sets of winding stairs I had to go down to get to the street. This is embarrassing to admit, but I made sure to grab a knife I keep for self defense and I very, very slowly made my way down the stairs, knife in one hand, flashlight in the other. Once I got to the street, I checked on my neighbor who happened to be a good friend at the time and then made my way to work. Later on, I found out a racoon or something had fucked up a transformer and caused a city wide blackout.

I was forming hypotheses (the men's voices are your paranoia, the women's voices are your anxiety, the notes are sanity counteracting the mental illness)... then it just went off into big red demons in trash rooms and didn't really resolve...

I dont know about in general, but I am somewhat fond of the low res lighting. Also, I 100% think protag has some guilt issues, but I'm only halfway through, so let's wait and see.

I love the way you explain your thesis on a game's plot and story as well as how you feel/felt about it as an entirety/as a whole. I also like your theories on a lot of the game's you've played and play. n_n

Lol can you imagine being in that situation. The power went out and you just want to ask for help but you're neighbors just give you existential crisis. Anyways this video is how I realized that I have an aversion to knocking sounds.

+1 for Transformers reference. +500 for Riki-oh reference. Also, I really liked the visual style here. It reminds me of some PS1 RPG (Kingsfield maybe?) where everything felt a bit off and NPCs were faceless and I always felt like they were hiding something.

all the remarks about literally running into Hollow Head reminds me of the first time I played Silent Hill 2, I walked right into Pyramid Head...twice.

Just started watching your videos and I love the persona references and I've only seen 3 videos so far! The guy who looked like Ryouji from Persona 5 in insanity I thought the same thing and then "reach out to the truth" in this one XD

Hold up- I own and have played this game! Finally I can figure out how to get past the steam in the basement. THERE'S THREE OF THEM??? To keep myself from getting scared through this whole thing, I just decided that the "them" was the IRS and they cut power because this is the Tax Evasion Apartment Complex. And those are the crimes you need to answer for. Half the doors have no response cuz it's literally the middle of the night, and the ones who do answer either aren't helping you cuz you're literally some rando knocking on their doors at 4 AM, or they also know that this is the Tax Evasion Apartment Complex and don't want to try to hide you from the IRS because then they'd be "aiding and abetting." Also I feel ya on the candle/flashlight - literally I was complaining to my friends about how much the flashlight sucked and then I picked up the candle and thought "I regret everything I said about the flashlight."

It was fun one,though the drawing distance cliche always makes me feel a little bit angry cause it feels like your lightsource is unnaturally weak even though in this game we saw, it was made correctly
