I would be taking day trips to see as many as possible of Turkey’s amazing antiquities! There is everything from Neolithic to Hellenic and Roman sites, but I know it’s a big country. It looks so beautiful there. One of my grandmothers was a young Hellene (the preferred term for Greek), from Nicomedia in the Ottoman Empire, now Turkey. She was deported in the brutal “population exchange”, now considered genocide, in 1923, to Alexandria. Afterwards, she re-connected, through the Orthodox Church which handled the refugees, with and married, my grandfather who was from Kalamata and they settled in Volos. They had met in 1922 when he was fighting there for Hellas, which lost, and had barely escaped alive in a disguise, just the first of his many adventures.

We went to Kusadasi before Covid and had planned to go back. We stayed at the Ramada hotel and it was fantastic. We went the first week in Oct but it was still pretty warm for me. My only complaint was I could not adjust the air con in our room and I found it too warm at night to sleep. The food at the time was amazing and the hotel and everything loved the little town of Kusadasi. I hope Covid hasnt changed anything.

I bring makeup and all my bits and bobs and after the first couple of days I think oh it's too hot and just use SPF the same with hair end up just letting it dry and tying it back. 🤣 . Admire you doing your make up in the heat.
