    @@compactangler Hi Mate quick report..Tried all the large top water lures and small plugs . Sand eel surf-walkers , poppers, gravity minnows etc at sunrise a few mornings for no joy. I had some success with micro jigheads and isome -small bream ,rainbow wrasse, some other wrasse things and a lovely weaver that gave me a sore hand for a day LOL. Then on the last day as the sun was coming up I tried an old metal savage gear surf seeker and bang first cast a lovely Dorado . Not sure of the weight but around 3 ft long absolutely delighted . Pity I cant post photos on here. Regards Graham.

    @@grahamallen1866 Hey Graham, thanks for the update and congrats for the Dorado, must have been a good fight! That’s the the thing, when fishing abroad, it takes time to learn the place, where to go, at what time, what lure/jig to use. Luckily you ended up with a nice fish 🐟 Well done!

    Enjoyed while watching. I liked combining two cameras, it had artistic effect :😊. Do you use two gopros? I will definitely swap my treble hooks with singles, as I can get most of my ryukis lures by being afraid to get stuck on the sea bottom. You got really nice fishes in the shallow!

  • @compactangler

    @compactangler

    Thank you Milan, appreciate it👍 Actually the other camera was my iPhone. In the first two days of fishing I had to dive in a couple of times to get my lures back😥so yes, definitely swap out the trebles for single hooks. Good luck and tight lines 🎣

    Brilliant 👍. I'm heading to pefkos later in July and taking some travel rods and my Shimano OC 8000s. Is it better to lure fish from the beach? Or does bait fishing work as good please? Any tips would be greatly appreciated please as I'm generally a fresh water/lake angler

  • @compactangler

    @compactangler

    10 күн бұрын

    I think given the right circumstances both work well. If you want to fish with baits, make sure you have access to deep water…bait fishing will work better. Personally I like lure fishing more, so that’s my preference. Have a great trip and tight lines!

    @@compactangler I'll definitely bring some lures with me then thank you. Hopefully find some deeper water to go at while I'm there. I looked at some boat trips but they looked expensive for just a few hours. I have a week to find some spots anyway. Thank you for your reply 👍 tight lines

  • @compactangler

    @compactangler

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi there, best time would be either just before dawn or in the evenings, that’s when the predator species are mostly hunting. I’m not familiar with denett lures, but they look like sinking jigs which will be doing great in deeper water. I had great success with blue/pink colour jigs at dawn and have caught a few nice bonitos. Good luck🤞

    Hi Tony, thanks for commenting. As far as I know, you don’t need a license in Greece for sea fishing (just like in the UK)…so far. Although, I can’t tell you about any size or species regulations if any. The place I fished was a quiet secluded (nudist) beach, with not many people around that early anyway. You might want to check with locals if you are going to fish somewhere busy, like a marina or similar, but regarding a license…you’re good👍
