'Holding hands while they go' - Inside the Covid ICU

If January feels like a long month to you, just imagine what it must feel like for the NHS staff in the our hospitals. Under relentless pressure since the beginning of this pandemic, stepping up day after day. There is no let up for them. We've spent the day at the capital's biggest NHS Trust in east London, hearing from medics on the front line at the Royal London and Newham Hospital.
Karl Mercer reports.

    The NHS has been amazing. We sadly lost our Grandma quite suddenly from Covid. She has lots of underlying health issues so we knew she wouldn’t make it. The doctors and nurses kept her comfortable and we all got to spend some time with her before she passed away. Watching someone dying and fighting for breath from Covid is something that will be with me forever. I’m so grateful that the nurses were able to allow us to see her and say goodbye. I know some families haven’t been so lucky. The world has lost an amazing woman, gone before her time because of this horrifying disease. My heart goes out to every single family affected by Covid.

    Did an autopsy identify tissue that was isolated containing covid or was it a ‘diagnosis’ from the PCR test? A PCR test CANNOT and DOES NOT diagnose illness. The media and your government are lying to you! Do your own research outside the main stream news because its censored! If your poor grandmother received the vaccine mRNA then it was probably this that caused her sad demise

  • @annabelcottrell1835

    @annabelcottrell1835

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@choomickle623 a spectacularly stupid and insensitive remark. Yes a PCR test can diagnose Covid unless you happen to be a non human species from another planet. Only in Russia do deaths from Covid only count if they do an autopsy and they still have 72,185 official Covid deaths. Besides the fact they have recently admitted that the true numbers are three times that figure - if you read Russian you can check this out on the Russian equivalent of the ONS so no need to rely on the media. And no it was not the vaccine that caused her death since not one person has died from the vaccine except in the minds of the seriously demented Covid deniers.

    @@jenniferlawrence9473 Is there something wrong with "going into a profession for the money"? I'm a nurse. A really good one too. I don't want to be called a hero. It is my love and passion, but it is also just my job. It is not who I am-it is just what I do. I need to pay bills like everyone else. Does that mean I don't feel tremendous pain and sorrow watching my fellow human being die a *horrible* death? Then I have to wash their cold, lifeless body and put them in a body bag only to do it all over again. There is no amount of money that can make that tolerable. There aren't many professions where people have to deal with tragic death like I do. It's so hard.

    As a fellow ICU NURSE I like to tell myself in particularly heartbreaking 💔 circumstances, if your emotional and it hits you hard, it simply proves you still have a heart ❤️ and it’s heartbreaking to watch people struggle to breath, this thing is really serious, destroying young peoples lungs. Some have needed lung transplants from the first wave. They got hit early when even doctors didn’t know how to treat them. Many staff were sickened too, some hospitalized but still perished. We had been warned for decades that something like this would happen.

    The words THANK YOU SO MUCH are so small and don't get across the level of gratitude, respect and love that I have for each and every single member of the hospital staff, but they are all I have. So THANK YOU you don't see yourselves as heroes but to us you are the best bravest most selfless compassionate heroes. All I can do to show how I feel is follow the rules. And pray.

    @@jonnycool5591 You can be very lucky that you typed that from the safety of the internet. If this was a real conversation, you'd have got a right hook for disrespecting someone who's worked so hard to keep all of us safe. If you refuse to wear a mask, then you're refusing to take precautions to prevent other people from catching a virus that may kill then, and will probably maim them. That's what you're demanding the right to do, endanger everyone you walk past. Put your mask on and be glad you still have teeth.

    @@jonnycool5591 I live in freedom, and I do it without endangering people's lives. You demand the right to commit attempted murder. I think you need to dial back the steroids and take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror while you still can. This virus will attack your muscles, it will drain your strength until you're a weak little kitten that couldn't run away if it had to. It's going to attack your balls, shrink your willy, and you'll have to wait and see about the fertility problems. And when you realise that people have died because you refused to make a small concession in consideration of others not so blessed with strength and confidence as yourself. As you have sown, so shall you reap, big boy.
