Yo my guy, I think you misunderstood when they said you didn't have to play the first one lol. There's the OG game that came out 1996; That's the one they meant you don't have to play. The 2020 version (REMAKE) is almost a requirement or you will be even more confused lol or you can just watch that "The story so far" option from the main menu

You can't go wrong with starting with FF7 Remake, and then FF7 Rebirth. Probably best to go in fresh without expectations.

But like people have mentioned, this game is a sequel to FF7 REMAKE which is a remake to the 1997 game, Final Fantasy 7. It is recommended to play the remake first to fully immerse yourself in the story. Also Sephiroth had access to the strongest versions of the spells, if you choose a spell, press right to access a stronger version of the said spell. The tutorials that pop up also gives you NEW information everytime they do, like how to use special abilities and such. DON'T SKIP THEM, they don't just pop up to tell you things you already know.

Definitely play REMAKE, I'd recommend the og as well but probably too much of a hassle. People will recommend Crisis Core (the prequel) as well but I recommend against it since it kind of spoils one of the main mysteries from the main story. Looking forward to your playthrough(s).

It was fun watching somebody play FF7 for the first time. But yes, in order to really know what's going on in the story I highly suggest playing Remake. I think people meant not playing the original playstation 1997 game one, not the Remake. A lot of stuff and history with some of the characters gets formed in Remake. Play it before playing Rebirth. But I'm glad you liked the demo. This game is going to be lit.

Yeah, you DEFINITELY should play Remake before you play Rebirth. You don’t have to play the OG PlayStation original, but the remake is broken into 3 games with this being the second. You still have time to play Remake before Rebirth comes out, if you want. It comes out the 29th.

Hoped you'd try this, I found you thru the FF16 playthrough. If you intend to actually do a full playthrough definitely get the remake and rebirth twin pack and play the remake first.

You can buy both FF7 Remake (which is Part1) and FF7 Rebirth (Which is part 2) for $70 right now before Feb 29..after that its $100. just saying. You should DEFINITELY play FF7R1 before FF7R2. Also, I know its just a demo, but you missed ALOT of stuff. all those boxes can be broken for items. And picking up materia is almost always worth the effort. You missed alot of them, even knowing that they were there... This game will have lots of fleshed out minigames like that piano. Its a huge part of FF. 16 didnt really have any at all.

Play FFVII Remake -> FFVII Rebirth in this order. Rebirth is part 2 of the FFVII Remake Project Trilogy (Part 3 will come after Rebirth in the Future). You can then decide when or if you want to play Crisis Core Reunion which is the Prequal to FFVII in general they just rereleased it as a Hybrid Remake/Remaster type deal for its Anniversary. Absolutely not! Crisis Core is the worst spoiler in history. Crisis Core should only be played after OG if it is played at all. It should simply be Remake > Rebirth.

We REALLY suggest you play REMAKE first. The whole "you can jump right in without playing anything first" thing is just a marketing gimmick. What you don't need to play beforehand is the original FF7 though

Yo, no need to play FF7 Remake if you don't feel up to it. In my opinion, ff7 remake is just the introductory. It's like showing up on time to a banquet meal but you skipped the boring prayer session that's all. In my opinion, ff7 rebirth is where the real game starts.
