Hey Steve, there was a LOT of the old Canadian Tire in that trailer build. I think as a concept build you may be able to do something like this easy enough :) with Steve Style! It would be a boat build but on wheels :)

I’d remove the external locks and add a proper lock so it’s safer and you can’t be locked in it. Add some fold down legs to increase stability of trailer when parked. Storage under bed or make bed fold down for more space and add an awning or tent for the outside to increase space in winter for cooking etc. Awesome find and a great starter

Yeah or maybe replace the exterior lock bolts with carriage bolts and cotter pins on the inside so you can pop it off if you need it.

Also, find a way to screen the main entrance, maybe with two screen doors inside the main door. Or a retractable pull down screen in a track.

I’d change the door to be top hinged with some gas struts. The door would become an awning when open.

I agree Beauty really seems to be a good camp companion on short trips. She doesn't make a lot of noise, steal your firewood, she is comfortable with a camp fire, sits well in the canoe. Hope to see her in more of your shorter trips. About time to get Wil and the girls out for an over nighter. Its been a little while. I think Autumn was just beginning to walk and talk the last time.

Poodles are very intelligent. I've forgotten what she is, though.

My daughter is 13 years old and still gives me one of her stuffed animals to take anytime I go out of town for work or camping or whatever. It's become a tradition I wouldn't ever want to break.

Kids are amazing. My youngest made a little card for me when she was 3 for fathers day, and asked me with as serious a face a 3 year old can, to "not throw it out" (never have thrown out anything, still have everything). I made a promise to her I'd keep it under my keyboard which was a safe spot hidden from the light, and she asked "forever?". It's 7 years later, still there, she still checks periodically. Kids are amazing.

I hope he has another way to exit the new camper as all the barrel locking hasps are on the outside. It would only take one lock to not be fully retracted or someone pulling a prank and Joe's in the box.

Autumn giving you the cat toy when you were about to leave.....😇🥰❤.....that is just freakin adoreable.....as for the trailers name, you should call it "TROUT".....a combination of Tripper, and Scout....since you love fishin and all too 👍

Solar panels on top to keep the Anker charged on multi-day trips, magnetic snap close screens for the door to help keep skeeters out (and could even leave the door open that way), maybe some foam weather stripping around the door (looked like light was coming through around the edges). Looks fun!

First is first, fix the gap around the back door to keep mosquitoes out and the heat in. Maybe consider making a 2 piece/ foldable screen that can close off the back end from bugs and allow airflow while still keeping the bugs out. And able to store under the bed when unused if too cold at night.

Yeah that's the first thing I noticed too aside from the massive shaking when he parked it and moved around in it. Hopefully he did get a good deal! It's a great starter and something to work off of

An idea: put some sort of screen over the large opening where the door is so that you can let air flow in, have a nice view, and keep the bugs out!

Super nice trailer. Small yet keeps you from becoming bear chow. Warm and dry. Maybe get a magnetic screen for the back to keep the bugs away. Sweet trailer camping! Name it Ruby!

Great trailer. You could always make the bed a fold down one so when you aren't sleeping in it you could fold it up against the wall and that would give you more room to sit and hang out or cook if the weather is bad.

My dad would think this is the PERFECT trailer for him. In fact ill send this to him to get his reaction. I'm very impressed with it

Very cool! Maybe install a couple of solar panels to the roof. You could even attach a drop-down table to the inside of the door too so you could put a gas burning stove to cook on outside as needed. Also, one of those powered coolers might be nice to have. They make USB powered lights that work well and don't use much power too. If you want to go a little overboard, you could add a pull out awning to one side as well. Looking forward to seeing how she looks once your done with all of your customizations.

It looks great, allthough i did see a deadbolt on the outside i think and my paranoid brain immediately went to how you could lock the door with someone inside, i guess its fine if you can fit out the window. Probably fine of course but im a nutter with that stuff when im camping alone.

Outside "lock" system makes it easy for someone to lock you in....not safe ..just something to think about. My Dad back in the 70's built a fold out camper man it was heavy as all get out all welded frame to fit plywood no waste and had a canvas top made . We had great times .

First mod lockable door handle, Also looks like the door needs to be weather sealed.

Pretty cool setup, though I'd be concerned about the exterior lock. Some A-hole could ruin your day by locking it while your inside. Well, down here in the States that'd be a concern. Might think about hinges for the cot, could allow additional space for a bike or something.

Hi Joe, also love to see Beauty with you, she clearly loves going in the canoe with you, she was watching you when you when you took the boat from the car roof and run with you, and she is so calm and seems to enjoy everything.

I think you need more modification on that tiny camper Joe. Starting with the outside lock and there's a gap on the door. You can put some storage boxes under the bed. Anyways, still a good find.

Hang screen down the back so bugs dont eat you at night or whenever and roll up and tie off when not needed... im sure you have or would have thought of all these things but its fun for me to think about....wanted to do a tiny trailer for yrs but im up in yrs now and dont see ever being able to so thx for sharing

Perfect. What more could you need . I’ve lived in vehicles for most of my life here in the Uk (I’m 52 now) from caravans all the way up to a American school bus and recently been thinking of building something similar to this myself . Nice & light to tow and easy to move around . Great vid and find joe 👍

What a lovely compact Travel Cabin this is, full of potential, ready for you to make it just how you like. It looks solidly constructed and easily manoeuvrable by one person. Comfortable, cosy and a lovely place to be irrespective of the weather, I'm really pleased for you finding this.

Very cool! So glad you have an escape window in case someone locks you in. Might want to add a large sunroof similar to a boat fore-hatch. Should be easy enough to build and still be water tight.

Love the “little trailer/camper”. Looks like fun. Next trip to WalMart…bug strips or one of those mosquito machines that sit on a table. Also, a mat for Beauty and her bone. Thanks for sharing.

I would change the locks. Put them inside to secure the space when you are in it. Simple padlock to outside to secure it when you leave it to hike, etc. Also, get an inexpensive set of magnetic door screens to keep mosquitoes out. There are plenty of rechargeable light bulbs and strip lights to replace the battery one. Enjoy.

I love it. Make the bed a fold up to give you sitting room and a tarp over the back door. Happy for your purchase. My daughter always sent a stuffed animal on my solo trips

Put the bed on hinges so it can tuck away and have a couple stools that fold up. Also put the bed so that it lays out closer to the floor, much more comfortable on a small bed. 👍

I think some extra storage on the outside, and an awning would make it the bees knees.

Not a bad find, I think I'd replace the solid bunk with something that could fold into the wall. Maybe aluminum to cut down on the weight and install a camper fan in the roof to keep the inside from turning into an oven. Any other changes I'd do would just be cosmetic... but definitely a repaint with your colors and crest to represent.

Love it Joe, laying in my homemade camper watching this vid and listening to the thunder and rain.

When I was in my 20s, I farmed by myself on some raw land with no utilities, Bushcraft was a daily deal for me inside of a cargo trailer. I really miss those days, they were simple and occupied with tasks of "inconvenience" as I had to cook on wood, heat with wood, collect and filter my own water, walk a hundreds of feet to the sunny spot where I had batteries charging. I'm about to move at the end of the year and really consider getting a cargo trailer again, but then again if you don't have land to park them on I essentially have to sell them.

I was literally just looking for a mini camper on Facebook marketplace. Then I got a notification for this video. 😂

Love it, just the perfect size for 1 person with all the essentials. Could build a pull-out drawer under the bench with some storage or cooking gear to be able to cook outside.

I have a grandma made quilt too, it’s University of Alabama football. She put a bunch of brown footballs and her best attempt at an elephant head. It’s so bad it’s funny but I know she made it just for me and I miss her so it’s my favorite blanket. In a house fire it would be top of my list to try to get out.

It's Joe's Robinhut! Really like it. You defo need to put your logo on it. I agree with a lot of the other comments about what to do. A photo wall on the inside would look great. Beauty is the perfect camp companion. Look forward to more adventures in the Robinhut.

Nice little camper. I met a dog at my parents old folks home and it reminded me of Beauty. It was a 100 lb. Mostly white sheep dog with it's hair cut short. His name was Jethro and he had his own golf cart that said Jethros ride with paw prints on the side. His owner drives him around and takes him to see all the old people. I asked him if he wanted to shake my hand and he looked at me for awhile and decided he would an put his giant paw out. So cute. His paw was as big as my hand. He sits on the back rest with his paws on the seat. He's taller than the guy driving him around and has 1 blue eye an 1 brown eye.

Oh I love your little camper! Very nice amenities and the guy left a lot of nice supplies for you. I have a Little Guy teardrop camper, so I can appreciate what you've got there. When I bought my Little Guy, I also camped in it right away, on the way home. I did notice that I could see daylight around the edges of your camper door after it was closed. Might need to do something to keep out moisture. I think you'll get many hours of enjoyment with the camper. Glad you're better from the salmonella. Take care.

built out a 4x8 cargo trailer ......its small enough i can pull it with minivan .....live in it every winter .....just love it !!!

I’ve got a 6x10 flatbed trailer I’m working on, I’ve got a pickup camper top for the roof and windows, and welded steel tubing for the frame. I’m loving getting ideas from other small builds.

I highly recommend finding a small portable bug zapper that has a light that they attracted to...I am sure they must make a small portable one that you could keep in it. Great find, happy that you are happy. Love the videos and can't wait to see what else you add to it and the trips you take with it.

Looks good, Lot to be said for the safety of trailers over tents. Both from the weather and from critters! Possibilities are limited only to your imagination. Have fun! I have a 4x6 DIY camper as well, and I love it!
