A nice way to save fuel is to switch to night time raiding for aircraft. It won’t save as much as it does by turning them off but it does slow down the timer

Doesnt it also increase the plane losses and reduce efficiency? Since the night mode gives negative bonusses

15:24 could have made one of your screens a pride of the fleet (it's free and gives you +5% war support) which would have been enough for war economy

Still works in "No step back" . Just start building some trains later as well. Just did it and as Japan was conquered 2 Years before invasion of Europe i could send units to invade myself.

Helped me a lot, also still works with the "Bosporus" DLC quite well.

I have been using your guides for a while now and I had really fun with this one. Your guides are always very clearly written and explain stuff that you can use in other campaigns. I changed a few things on route which had quite an impact in my game. I got the fourth research slot before the war. (helped by the fact that in my recent games Germany never starts the war before march 1940). So I had the full naval doctrine before the war started. Instead of surrounding Italy close, I patrolled central and eastern mediterranean and the horn of Africa. Result was that England managed to kick out Italy from Africa and I only lost a few subs. I got Italy down to 60 convoys before Japan threatened to come knocking. Initiately I blocked the oceanparts as suggested. I noticed Japan was importing oil mainly from south America due to this (in the beginning they imported from Iran) I extended my raiding area to the pacific ocean making a big blockade around Japan (but far enough to not suffer from air attacks). Within a few months Japan lost all his convoys and their ships were bound to port due to lack of oil. I never saw a Japanese invasion. Mid 1943 the AI managed to stage already an invasion which conquered half France and big parts Belgium and the Netherlands while Russia conquered Warsaw. Hoping that it would finish soon (the AI was mounting a 4 to 1 division advantage in Europe and only needed to conquer Friesland, I started to prepare for de bevrijding. Only to find that suddenly the AI retreated most his troops from Holland in while the German line were collapsing. It took almost a year extra to regain the Netherlands.

Hi, Bitt3rSteel! Thank you for your guide. I was waiting for this as I was having trouble to achieve it, but it turns out I managed to get it after trying it out when I saw your announcement. In my opinion, (playing without La Resistance DLC, just up to Man the Guns), more than the actions of the AI UK and US, whose troops come in handy only after you make a successful landing somewhere, how you do depends on how good Japan does against China. In the first games I tried, Japan managed to knock out China and then came swiftly against the Indies with his entire army. In that scenario, Japan makes good use of his navy and constantly invades your islands in several points and at the same time. Your industrial capacity will have a hard time keeping up the effort and your subs are in danger. However, since I like to take a more proactive stance and try to be on the offensive, in the game when I got it right, Japan was struggling in mainland China, losing many, many divisions, so I took the opportunity and invaded Indochina, which they had claimed, and then went on invading Taiwan, his southern islands and eventually, the main island. Yes, AI Japan doesn't protect his mainland, so, unless they have troops in Nagasaki for a naval invasion, if you're fast enough, you can get a good foothold and rush through the island before they come back to protect it. Also, the US sees this and says, 'hey! Congratulations on that invade I should be doing, here are some troops', thus making the capitulation of Japan even easier. Puppet them to keep their navy and divisions and then headway to the UK. The Soviet Union should still be holding up, so just take the initiative and try to invade the Netherlands yourself, the UK, the US and the rest will pour troops quickly. If you fail, just wait for another chance, maybe when the Allies have distracted the Germans in Normandy or Italy. I'm just telling this in case someone wants to try it and prefers to go on the offensive instead on sitting on the islands while bombarding Italy. I understand that the guide provides a higher success rate, so my hat off to you, Bitt3rSteel. Thanks for the trick on the manpower and the Indies divisions. Also, as someone pointed out in the comments, wait until the very last moment to move your gold reserves, since it takes pp and factory construction until the effects are applied. Hope you keep bringing us more content like this, I'd love if you could teach us on how to properly defeat the Axis with the Little Entente (maybe with Czechoslovakia, with the Munich Disagreement achievement, because of the problems with the manpower and the ineffective help of France). Hmm, one little mistake i saw When the Secret Staff Talks decisions are opened, just don't relocate the gold reserves until we're at war. It is just a permanent malus on construction speed and factory output, and it will be exchanged anyway when we're capitulated with some nice PP and legitimay bonus.

I also noticed that Japan still seems to be broken. I have not seen them embark on their Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere antics in a dozen or more recent play sessions.

Another achievement done thanks to your help. I achieved it on 5 May 1944. An absolute marathon. I had so much war score I ended up occupying most of Germany, including all of eastern Germany. So no communist Germany.

Got the achievement. Convoy raiding in the West Indies is important to beat up invasion fleets. In my game Japan sent dozens of divisions at me & my colonial garrisons almost got overrun.

I had the same problem with the USA not joining the Allies. What I did to fix this was going for "American West Indies Protectorate" focus and then called them into the war.

Yes: go fascist and join Germany, and build nothing but submarines and naval bombers. It might take a while, but you'll completely destroy the entire Royal Navy.

I know there are a lot of history nuts in Bitt3rSteel's fan base...can anyone recommend a good book about the Netherlands in WW2, in particular the military leadership and fighting...Europe and Pacific?

You won't need LR, but grabbing those focusses might not work out. You need to do some prep work to be able to impact the war after all

Thanks for this! My main challenge was the Allies incompetence at being able to beat Germany. Took them to 1946 to finally stick the invasion of Germany even with me strat bombing them. Was tricky holding off Japan at times too, their navy is really strong especially when the USA don't get involved fighting them back much!

I have a question, is Belgium was more minor in WW2 compared to the Netherlands ? Because the Netherlands has its own focus tree, and much more achievements in comparison with Belgium. I don't know the history of these two countries very well, that's why I wanted to ask those who know it.

Netherlands capitulates after 5 days, then resisted Japan in the Pacific. Belgium fell after 2 weeks en vicious resistance, but paradox doesn't seem us worthy of a tree. Unfair

@@Bitt3rSteel I also think this is strange, the Netherlands they considered worthy the focus tree and achievements, and Belgium who also fought againts Germans in World War II not. As in the case of Finland, which also actively participated in the WW2, albeit on the side of the nazis.

I see you annex DEI to bypass "curtail colonial authority" but when I try that, germany ends up annexing DEI from me after I capitulate, thus ending my playthrough. Any idea what im doing wrong? or maybe game has been patched and this strategy is no longer viable?

It woulod be nice to have some guides that don't involve La Resistance, as not everyone has it, since it's a poorly rated DLC.

I like you always say historical on for the predictable gameplay. yet I've had the US go facist, France go non alligned, britain go communist, the Soviets loose the civil war and go facist after being democratic, Germany just sitting there, Japan taking over all of Asia apart from the union & Canada taking over all the Americas and Europe. All in the same game! And that's why I rarely play on historical.
