Hogwarts Legacy BEST ENDING - Why You Should OPEN THE REPOSITORY

Ойындар

What is the best ending to Hogwarts Legacy? It seems like protecting the secrets of the repository is intended to be the good ending to the game. But in this video, I’m going to argue the most compelling reasons why you should open the repository of ancient magic instead - even over Professor Fig’s objections.

Unfortunately, the MC was too busy containing the ancient magic needed to seal away in the repository. But, when Professor Fig says: "She would have loved you. My young friend." I thought that the MC would shed a tear or two. Overall, the cutscene was heartbreaking.

We fear what we don't understand. I think opening the repository is an objectively good thing to do depending on what matters to your character. For me my character grew a strong bond with Sebastian and knew that this ancient magic for a fact could if studied possibly help Anne in the future and others maybe if not used in the careless manner Isodora used it. I wish the scene with Fig could have appeared in both endings. Like especially if you choose to open the repository but the entire game your character has been morally good on their own terms despite possibly choosing to learn dark magic to protect wild beasts from exploitative poachers.

Surely there would have been a ton of emotionless husks wandering around afterwards, especially Isidora's students. But no, no mention of that at all. Why? Because it worked as intended, just removing a bit of pain. So why did Mr Morganach become an emotionless husk? It's quite simple, really. He was consumed by the grief of losing his son. We see and hear this from the Pensieve memories. When all you're capable of feeling is pain, and that pain is removed, what's left...? For my first time playing I wanted to keep the Repository as is for now but not forever. There are so many good wisher and witches that we’ll want to use this power for good. So I plan to study it and not react like Isadora did. Her intention were good but she didn’t really know how to weld her magic and caused the world a due of pain. As my character cannon or not will study this magic and find ways to use it for good like betterment of food, water, and all the basic needs for people to live and to protect the Wishording world and human world from people like Ranrock or Wordwood. Sebastian made really good points about the keepers though and even though my character defeated the keeps choices that may me think that I should ask if they really did know what this magic is. If it is dangerous to the wrold there’s heck yeah I’ll keep it in the Repository forever but if it has paternal to be good then I’ll like I said study it more carefully and not study it on students! The Keepers keep this SECERT and it seemed like they didn’t know what it is which is ironic. And even if they and I scratched the surface we still don’t know what it even is! I have so many questions like, “Did people centuries ago used the power and hid it away” or “Do the Keepers really know what the magic is!?” Perhaps we’ll see it in DLC or sequels to get a better understanding of this Ancient Magic but for know i can only think, “What secrets our the Keepers keeping from…me and the characters I made?” 🤨

The problem was she had no will to study, just use it. So what you are protecting is something they did not know what to do with. Emotions they could not destroy or return. My understanding is that ancient magic is more the "magicalness" of the world itself, which a witch or wizard can tap into and "invoke" to make things happen, while regular wizards' magic is a less potent form of magic. If I want my choices to matter in a game, I'll play a TTRPG. I only play videogames if I have some pent up anger I want to safely let out or I'm interested in the storyline and/or worldbuilding. Because no matter how good a videogame is, it's notoriously difficult to include an accountability system in one. If it has one, pleasant surprise. But that's certainly not something I expect from a videogame. Whereas in TTRPGS, so long as you have a good GM, the possibilities are endless. If you do something your GM doesn't expect, your GM can improvise on the fly. A preprogrammed game cannot, and there's only so much time you can spend on mapping out character decisions before the game simply becomes unprofitable to produce, and in a capitalist world you can't afford to be unprofitable.

There's one little problem with your video. In your video you state that there are pretty much two choices, either open the repository or close it and keep it secret forever. If you pay close attention to your dialog options there is actually a small third option, which admittedly is the best option in my opinion. If you notice when you say that you're going to keep it contained Professor Fig talks about keeping what you had been doing secret from everyone. Then it gives you a dialog choice on whether you're going to keep it secret forever, which is what you chose, but it gives a second option of keeping it secret for now as well. If you take this option you pretty much say that you'll keep it secret for now but then open it and study it once you have found people that you can trust not to misuse the magic. Which actually fulfills exactly what you said you wanted to do, without opening yourself up to the corruption that influenced Isidora.

The keepers are the villains in my opinion they refused to try to learn anything from it and painted her as a villain. A great example of this is the encounter her in the chamber they don't try to talk her down they don't try to reason with her or figure out what's going on the one dude almost immediately kills her using an unforgivable curse and no one bats an eye at it

What kinda bothers me is that despite the controversy around how Isodora experimented on others her healing method was at least shown to mostly work and only have negative effects when used a lot in the case of Isodora's father. My character opens the repository mainly because she knows and hopes that with care she can study it and help Anne in the future for Sebastian. I know he's probably not the most compelling character either but my character developed a strong bond with Sebastian and I kinda rp that she and him fight animal poachers with dark magic and that was her motivation for learning dark magic. I wish the death scene for Professor Fig could have appeared in the open the repository ending if your character has a laundry list of countless good deeds and both goblins and wizardkind they helped.

Actually, the logic of the Keepers was that Ancient Magic should not be used to toy with another person's humanity. That's exactly what Isidora was doing and why I think the magic from removing her father's pain looked different from the other traces of Ancient Magic in the game. She was using Ancient Magic to try and bring peace by removing pain, but instead ended up stripping people of all ability to feel emotion. Isidora was someone who preferred a world of emotionless zombies to one of humans who could feel pain. The line "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" should actually be "the road to hell on earth is paved with good intentions."

I think power is always better in the hands of the majority rather than the few. When we think about power in a different way, like the incredible power Voldemort, or even Hitler, we saw how that turned out. The magical power every wizard has in the wizarding world has, for example, is incredibly powerful already, and why isn't that power hidden in a vault somewhere? Two reasons. 1. Everyone has it. 2. There is a nonbiased third party, in the form of the Ministry of Magic, watching over them and catching people and jailing them when they act out and abuse that power. Also, we saw how easily Ranrok got to that power when it's hidden. The keepers were clearly useless in protecting it. They're literally paintings. What can they really do? That's why I think keeping power hidden is never a good idea.

And I mean they were kind of right the first person to be introduced to the magic sense them kind of lost their mind and started ripping emotions out of children and adults alike from the moment they told her about the magic she was power-hungry. The triptych at the Undercroft depicts the entire scenery of the estate, so it stands to reason that the triptych might be Isidora's version of the Map Chamber. But the painting, HER painting, from the other side, the one in the estate, was destroyed. That means she can no longer appear on the Undercroft. *BAKAR KILLED HER AND THEY BURNED HER HOUSE TO KEEP HER FROM TALKING.*

While I see your point on why you should open the repository, I kind of prefer the ending in which you keep it closed. In the "open it" ending, Fig dies very abruptly by a falling rock. In my first playthrough I chose this ending. However, I was kind of flabbergasted by the funeral scene as I did not realize Fig actually died. He just kind of disappeared. In the "keep it closed" ending, Fig's death got more feels from me, as you actually see him die, as well as hearing his final words. After that, the funeral scene actually hits harder. I think a better solution to the whole issue would be to let the Department of Mysteries research this magic. That way this power can be studied in a regulated environment and also kept from evil hands.

Ancient magic isn't a problem, but what was in the REPOSITORY held negative feelings emotions magic and it shouldn't be something you desire, even if it might add one more powerbar on you ancient magic meter or something. If all you want is power, sure, but it's not going to make you happy. It certainly didn't make Ranrock any happier or reasonable just ever angrier, hateful etz. That's my take on it. I kept the repository hidden. For me, it's the only logical solution. We've seen how corrupted the wizarding world already is, so it doesn't need an even greater power. What really annoyed me was us telling our secret to so many people. If you're a keeper, you should keep quiet about all this stuff, too. My favorite ending would have involved Fig to stay alive and guard the secret with us. We could have studied the Ancient magic nontheless, but it's not something that should be shared with the whole world or used for our own advantage. I think it's very presumptuous to believe you have any right to open it in the first place.

To me the better end would be if we did find a way to just dissolve it turn it all back to the world because no one should have that much power. Yeah you could keep it here but the if someone with bad intentions discover it could end being the end of the world really and power also corrupts in a way that I definitely wouldn't want it on me too. So let it go back to the nature in a way it fade away was what I wish could do at the end. But since you can't I will just keep letting it there. Also you are being total crazy if you think Isidora wasn't bad she was draining peoples emotions to smell it like an drug addict make her father an empty shell after experiment on him some crazy magic and was doing the same stuff not to long after in children??? And if you came "oh but maybe she didn't knew...." If she didn't knew it is even worse because shes not even keeping track of the people she uses it to see if it makes any collateral effect which absolutely should be something happening when trying to make some revolutionary treatment. The keepers aren't saints too but at least their way wasn't harming anyone.

In my mind it makes sense. Because if you choose to leave the repository as it is, he agrees with you, so in the end he reappears and helps you. But in doing so, since he's already wounded, he exhausts himself to death. But if you choose to open it, he won't help you, which means he won't force himself and will survive. And then he lets everyone think he's dead so he can keep and eye on you from the shadows, in case you turn evil. I don't know if that was the intention, but at least is what I though.

The middle-ground options: sharing the power, or keeping it concealed until the world is ready to wield it, seem like the better options.

Who's saying that inhaling all of that darkness isn't corrupting you even more? Isadora was not particularly wrong about expanding on what could maybe be done with the ancient magic, but just assuming that it can be used for good without any issues is naive.
