    I do not know why, but this reminds me of the time that you took your grandmother deer hunting. Those ribs looked really good. And so does that backstrap. Do you think that the backstrap would be better if I did the seasoning as you did, but also inject some into the backstrap?

    Question: what round and optics do you use and on what platform for hunting hogs? I want to do a Texas hog hunt and was thinking an AR-10 in a .308 with a Vortex scope. What do you think?

  • @garrettchaney2330

    @garrettchaney2330

    3 жыл бұрын

    That would definitely get the job done but you could even use a 5.56 or 300 blackout. If you’re wanting a bigger round you could look at a 6.5 Creedmoor or 6.5 Grendel. Vortex has great scopes but to do nighttime hunting I would look at some ATN or Pulsar thermals.

  • @nuilua1

    @nuilua1

    3 жыл бұрын

    I like the idea of a 6.5 Creed but would also want to use the same gun on a Colorado elk or Wyoming antelope hunt. I like the AR platform, partly because I was a Marine, but more so because of the rapid fire capability vs. a bolt action.

  • @garrettchaney2330

    @garrettchaney2330

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@nuilua1 I’m a big fan of the 6.5 but hear the knockdown power at longer ranges are different between that and the .308. I guess it really comes down to personal preference between the two, I really don’t think you can make a wrong decision in whichever you choose, especially fitted with a vortex scope. We’ve killed a lot of hogs with the 6.5 as well as .308. Also thank you for your service.

    Bass Pro has a few and a few long bows as well. Look up bear archery, 3 rivers archery and black widow bows. Martin also makes a decent traditional bow as well. Start off somewhat cheap. Make sure you like it. It's different, Instinctive, more challenging for sure.

    Ok I'm at 8:20 (Haven't seen the rest yet) But I'll tell you what I think he did wrong. Should have skinned that pig. in the cold & gutted, all the ticks move to where it was warm. . . inside the gutted pig, then the blood dried and there are tics "Glued" into every nook & Cranny inside that body cavity. 😒 Yes I did do it myself, shot a good Boar at about 2 AM, had to get him out by my self, hung and gutted by 3:30AM, Hung him in the walk in cooler took a shower and zonked out. . . . .Next morning I was washing and picking ticks out of the body cavity for at least an hour 🤦‍♂️, never do that again. Shot a sow a few days later and bone tired again I skinned her before bed and was happy for it.
