Speaking of hockey, I remember I had a good birthday when I was younger. Nyjah had been sitting in my lap when he surprised me with hockey tickets. Him and I both like how big the men are and how quickly they glide on ice. It reminds me of my hands gliding over nyjah's oiled up back when I give him massages. When we got to the game one of the players recognized me from school. We did stuff together but nyjah was cool with it. Even though Jah and I are just friends so it doesn't even matter but he's just so secure and I really respect that. Anyway, after the game I was tired and Jah carried me up to my room and tripped onto my bed. And since he was already there he decided that's where he was staying. It was a good birthday

This. Definitely feels like a generation gap, even if The Deer Hunter was released when I was a one year old.

your analysis actually helped draw out a deeper appreciation for this video in me. i'm still meh on some of the skating here, but the presentation and aesthetic is worth acknowledging. Still, def can't have Kevin & Ben MIA and still have a successful Hockey video.

Hockey X was a sick video. Benny always has the sickest vision for FA/Hockey videos. Wish Ben and Kevin would've had a couple clips more each but otherwise I enjoyed watching this

Call it an educated guess, but I'm pretty sure the look of the footage is achieved by projecting the final edit and filming that. I've done the same thing in the past and the results were similar.

Low key agree about the dunks w greaser fit but blazers all day w that type of fit

What I appreciate about this vid is how anti-SLS it is and how it captures what skating used to be.

@@aarongodwin6302 to a degree, but it didn’t always pander super hard to the general public. Even with major corporate sponsors at shit like the x games or non skate related ads in transworld magazine in the 90’s for example, skateboarding wasn’t as accessible and interesting to the general public as it is now. As long as there’s still a majority of the community that remain independent and embrace the creative and more raw aspects of skating, we can afford to have the Andy Mac’s and jager eatons blasting off on a cereal box or some shit.

I love seeing people's reaction to the 110 N aka Arroyo Parkway (the oldest freeway west of the Mississippi). My friend is visiting from Dallas and we took the 110 to South Pasadena last night. He was like, "WTF is this on ramp!? This is so sketchy." There's also barely any shoulder, so you can't really pull over once you're NE of the 101.

I want to watch this video on an older tube TV. I think it would look even better. All the shots look graded the same which is something I have not been seeing from a lot of the more well-known brands and I really hate when all shots don't match up. Love the title cards.

I watched Hockey X not long after coming off watching dead mall videos and doing my rounds of looking at urban decay on google maps and imo the soundtrack in Caleb's part really captured that juxtaposition of hopefulness and emptiness that i imagine these affected areas of USA would be like. Not many videographers can capture this and it is incredibly special to see.

This video was subpar. It had it's cool parts but overall it didn't deliver..I'm all for low key cruising let it fly tricks but overall this one wasn't it. And don't get started with this ben kadow dude. He's one of the laziest over hyped skaters out there. This guy hasn't put a real part together for years and even before that he didn't really try. How they let him slide by is beyond me, the guy is a flop. How do you do that when strobeck put the spotlight on you and thats how you repay him by coming thru with nothing..it's a joke. But whatever that's what this company is about, just getting by. It's trendy but overall not that unique anymore

Watched this entire video in about 30 seconds, good stuff as usual. Like the part towards the end a lot that was a great touch. Don't appreciate you saying all of that about Diego's family though.

It's a great one. The Russian Roulette scenes alone are so fucked. Cimino went on to make several very interesting films (most were major flops), but Deer Hunter will always be a gem.
