Here's a better video of installing barber haulers on your hobie adventure island as well as rear sail controls and modified steering position. Enjoy.
Жүктеу.....

Great ideas! I see you've got those Barber Hauler pulleys mounted on the akas, rather than on the rear padeyes on the amas that a lot of people are using. As an experienced sailor, I immediately thought the amas could be a more optimal place. Personally, I would try to avoid putting more holes in the amas to mount the blocks. Instead, I'm thinking about using either a stainless steel hose clamp or a super-rugged cable tie to attach those blocks... Actually, a well-done lashing would do the job as well.

Alistair good thinking ..They are a good all round boat but , there are a couple of aspects that could use a little tweak ..your idea is very good and you get a nice shape to the sail and work it more effectively ... I have thought that a jib would be interesting , I figure it would probably allow you to point far higher into the wind ... there are a couple of postings on the Hobie forum with this idea .

Hi, on my Adventure Island I did the fill just like Matt Coburn , but after a few sails I noticed some movement so I have used 12 pop rivets , the biggest one I could buy , drilled some holes , and dipped the rivets in epoxy resin and inserted them .. and smoothed the excess over and let it harden .....the so far so good ..

Allistair, thx for very informative vid! It seems the tweaker will get challenged as the sail is furled for higher winds. Perhaps a fix point for the pulley that comes as close as possible to where the clew actually will contact the ama will provide a better angle for a reefed sail?

Thanks. That would be great. Let me know when you've posted them.

My nose cone is connected by removing the loop on the front top of the boat where the grab rope connects. Remove it then drill 2 holes in the top of the nose cone, then slide nose cone on ans secure from the top by re screing the loop eye back in. I then have a screw on each site. No filler used. I felt any filler or liquid foam would hold water so it is completely hollow. Will take some pics and put them up on the blog for you.

Great video. On a related topic can you give a bit more detail on how you fitted the nose cone please? The type of marine gap filler etc. I've got a nose cone, but need just bit more info on how to go about it. Matt Coburn's video is good, but for non-technical people like me a little bit more detail doesn't go astray. :-) Cheers. Keith.

Good video. Would have been better if you showed everything on land

Do you think you could do this on a tandem island, I have a TI and like sailing in the back seat, I have already lengthened the rope and added a clam to the back bar to furl the sail in as this was impossible as standard, just fitted a lowrance elite 5 too but not got out yet, going today so hopefully get some video done. do you put the sail control tweak on both sides or just the right side?

You have a rope through a wheel pully, where does the other end of rope tie to, or do you pull both ropes?

It's called a Windicator 200, its about the best one for a Ai or TI and plugs in and out easily. Made by Windward Products ltd, in Kiwi Land

Nice vid, mate. I noticed you have a wind-vane on top of the mast. Could you be so kind to and tell me the brand and model of it? Is it special for AI?

would be much better with a set camera. couldn't even finish the video with all the irritating noise from adjusting the camera every 2 seconds...
