Remember guys, I'm throwing together a specific video on the features of the 2020 Pro Angler and get specific on how I set mine up. I am really keen to hear how you use your kayak so I can include how certain set ups work AND don't work. SO... WHAT TYPE OF FISHING DO YOU DO IN YOUR KAYAK?

YES! I want this video! I am a bass fisherman. Mostly small bodies of water, but some medium and larger lakes (parts thereof). I'm 66, bald, and overweight, so I got all that going for me. I'm looking into getting a Boonedox Groovy Landing Gear. Any thoughts? How do you find the rod storage in the Hobie? This will be my first Pro Angler (had Outback before), so excited about the rod lockers. Bring on the full walkthrough! Thanks. Roger, The Smiling BassHole

Just found your video. Great summary. I bought my PA12 late last summer here in the states. Took a few days of fishing around structure to really get the full utility if the 360 and rudder combined maneuverability. Agree on the size of the 360 lever. I discovered if you apply slight pressure to one of the pedals. ie pedal really slow, the resistance to the 360 knob turning is greatly reduced.

This 360 drive looks great. I struggled with this recently with my first time out on the water and a crosswind was blowing me into the bank. I mounted the rudder control (on the 360 side) 180 degrees from what Hobie recommends works better for me. Love my 360 way more control especially at slow speeds before the rudder is functional. Also with the wind at slow speeds its great. Hands down the best fishing kayak available, is it worth it, hell yes.

like you video on the 360 drive in the angler pro. my anglar pro is an older model so I have a nice timber paddle on board to help manoeuvre the yak because the rudder is not that good to small , now I'm looking at an upgrade , the 360 drive looks fantastic , addresses most of the not so good points on the older yaks, ,, I have the H Bar on mine, i found getting up ad sitting down a pain , simple remedy , i got some good rope, one that fits the hand nicely, a few knots in the right place half hitch on the front carry handle and I can get up and down ,,,easy as,,, see I'm an old buggar with titanium hips. Now the question on a replacement 12 OR 14, Prefer the 14,,, my son likes the 12 lighter and easier to load maybe he's thinking a roof rack transport now the weight difference is only 8 kg from memory, he's got the works ,,, live bait tank and the power pole,,,at the moment we cart the 14 footers on a double decker boat trailer that I modified, the yaks are supported on 4 pine planks across the width with a good thickness of carpet attached with stainless self tappers,, the bottom deck is easily loaded ,, lift the nose and slide her in ,, the front on both decks side support the yaks by custom contoured wooden blocks that are shaped fit the hull with carpet as a buffer, the top deck is easily loaded, i have a bit of uni strut with rounded dowel in the channel that slides out to the side, I can lift the nose and stick it on the uni strut then walk around to the back lift and slide the yak over onto the carpeted support, then lift the rear end and slide the yak forward ( im 70 ) use the weight of the front to help with the rear lift my yak has an outboard bracket fitted on the side the previous owner fitted that and had an electric outboard battery to dam heavy so I put a 2.2 hp honda 4 stroke on it air cooled donk no reverse its a bit awkward side to one side to use the tiller foot in the pedal opening to stop water surge but she works the only worry i have is after that bloke in america said he went thru 4 360 drive in 14 months have you heard of any issues with the drive cable breaking and the bearings failing and the gear teeth breaking , that's the only put off besides the cost I hafta by 2 one foe me and one for my mad fisho son

I'm a Native man foremost because of its instant hands free reverse. Sure it ain't without its cons but then what kayak isn't? This however, is close to the perfect unit for the type of kayak angling i do which is skinny water casting at structure for bream or EP's. Its maneuverability looks phenomenal and easily beats the Native. I find instant, hands free reverse useful for those bigger fish that are beelining for the structure with which they came out of. The advantage of being able to pedal backwards whilst still having both hands on the rod can not be understated. HOWEVER, if I was in the market for a new kayak, this new 360 would be right up and possibly at the top of my list. I've gotta hand it to Hobie. They do seem to be the innovator in regard to fishing kayaks and Native seem to be playing catch up. Byron, your videos have come a long way. I have started viewing them from the latest to the earliest. Gotta say, I'm glad I did too. (deleted the reasons for this as they arent important). Anyway, I love the energy, honesty and integrity you have brought to the later videos. Its refreshing to see an unbiased appraisal of tackle and techniques from someone who obviously knows their stuff. Personally, I found the way you explain why you found fish in a spot in one of your videos interesting. I am also a fan of the way you deliver the message. CRACKING videos mate. Keep up the good work and I hope you continue to find the time, energy & reasons to continue them.

On the other hand, I realize that allows you to get 20 minutes of information into a 12 minute window. Oh, and your steering wheel is on the wrong side mate. Is 'mate' OK? I'm not from around there. Scott Oliver Hey Scott, Ive owned 14s and 12s. The 12 doesn’t suit me, I feel less stable, I feel I am sitting higher on a shorter boat and I find the 12 has significant bow slap when cutting through waves. It may be for some, but not me :) It’s a great fishing platform but I feel most of the accessories are build for the 14. Personally since the outback is also a 12 foot I would go with that over the 14. But it’s not 360 :)

Man you really got a nice kayak. I love the way you have it set up. It is so awesome. I am looking to upgrade to the Hobie kayak but it's not working for me too well. I have a question? Do those straps that is on the pedals do they come off. That is the problem I'm having with the Hobie kayak.I have big very very wide feet sz15 6 EEEEEE with very fat wide toe that is equally straight across which is making it for a very very wide foot. I trust to demo a Hobie kayak and could not get my foot to fit through the straps on the pedals because of my foot being so wide. It was very embarrassing. I think if my toes were at a 45° angle instead of been equally straight across I might be able to fit it through. The salesman told me it wasn't going to work for me because of my toes being very fat and wide. The salesman said I never seen anybody with a foot that big with extremely wide feet with fat wide toes that Equity straight across. Then he asked me how wide is my foot. I told him it's 6 1/2 inches wide on my big toe to my little toe. It was embarrassing . I don't know if they make different strap sizes or what. I am trying to pick this kayak up over the Christmas holiday. Thank you for sharing your video. You and your family have a merry Christmas.

Hi Mack, The straps certainly do come off, they just twist and pop off - easy to do. I generally have them removed on my drives, but have them on in the video so people can see they are there. I don't see the size an issue mate, just twist the straps off and you shouldnt have a problem!

@@ByronTeaHill okay so they do come off. I like to know why the salesman told me they don't come off and caused me all that embarrassment. Well that's good to know that they come off I appreciate you letting me know this. I guess if I didn't have fat wide toes this wouldn't be a problem. It is definitely embarrassing. Especially when you're trying to look for a kayak or tried to find Footwear for kayaking which there's nothing so I have to kayak barefooted 👣 thank you so much sir I really appreciate that information. This was a big help.

Great video mate. The great advantage about Hobie (and other peddle) kayaks is the ability to do (almost) hands free fishing. It kinda seems that you lose that with the 360 in a sense - both your hands and feet are constantly busy manoeuvring the kayak. Not worth the money in my opinion.

Nice kayak but with a price tag of $5,499.00 it doesn't justify
