My main source of parts is bartering skills for parts. I'm okay at kitbashing and modelling, but am really good at installing lights into models, so I've more than once managed to score a load of bits from someone in exchange for lighting up a character model for them.

I find the local ebay sellers are best and cheapest. Especially here in Australia. While it would be cheap getting from UK etc. The shipping is the biggest killer for us here in the land down under.

Ah imagine it must be savage, chatting to some of my US friends they don't have the volume of discount stores we have in the UK either, do you have much problem with scalping ? Ebay is good but there are a tonne of kits up for sale for more than the RRP 🫤🫤🫤

@@baharroth_the_cry_of_old_paint Not so much a problem with scalping that I have noticed. Box sets like the Leagues of Votann seemed to be quite limited. Prices comparisons from GW in Australia stores to Local Game stores/online retailers in Australia are quite different in price compared to the rest of the world sadly. Using a box of 10x Primaris Intercessors as a comparison point. GW has them listed for $98 AUD (£56). Local Hobbystores /Online retailers here in Australia have them listed roughly at $78AUD (£44). A roughly 20% saving but still A LOT more expensive than buying directly at GW in the UK.

@@B1ackSwordVids OW. Yeah I'm looking at £36 direct from GW or lowest around £28 from a 3rd party and still think it's expensive😂 I will no longer complain about prices. Boxes are limited here too but every now and then something like Votaan will have massive stock. I hope it ends up being cost effective to build a factory in Aus so it gets cheaper !

@@baharroth_the_cry_of_old_paint that would be amazing but sadly I think it’s the reality for us here in AUS . As much as the games are amazing and I will continue to play, it ends up being a huge payment gateway for people entering the hobby. Thankfully smaller GW games like Kill Team , Underworlds and Warcry allow people to get playing and painting with fewer models. Even older games like Mordheim make it a reasonable price point with fewer models. Again parts sellers on eBay are our best way to go at the moment sadly. I’ve actually compiled a list of all the sellers that my friends and I use on a regular basis .

@@B1ackSwordVids ah that sort of list does make it much easier - we try and share the same stuff when we find it. I love the warcry/ necromunda models, each release is golden, kill team has been super strong too, shame such a barrier to entry!

I am 100% bend your ear on some kitbashing ideas... Super informative vid! :D

Go to computer repair shops and ask for damaged laptops, phones or tablets that they are throwing out, camera's galore. Plus the heatsinks and heatsink pipes (laptops for the pipes) would look cool in dioramas

It’s insane to me that I own both a resin printer and a filament printer, tons of raw material to print with, access to Blender with the knowledge on how to actually use it (3D designer/animator) PLUS a near infinite amount of already existing 3D models- most of which are ready to print right now- And yet I still wanna buy sprues for kitbashing… 😐

What are the rules for kitbashing in warhammer? At what point does a bash become its own thing and not work within the game?

It varies. If you are going for tournaments it needs to be on the right base size and recognisably the faction and unit, although with the generic weapons profiles anything can be a power weapon. However in every other scenario the rule of cool applies. 😂 I have some men of iron kitbashes I've run as knights and my harlequin army has some wild variation. I don't play tournaments but I've made stuff for people who do and it's all been good. People want to see weird models. We made a Kill rig out of some squighog riders and a tonne of scrap bits and old Orks. It's the same size and shape, but doesn't contain any of the original model. You can always check with your opponent, if it's for a fun game and they freak out it's probably a good sign they aren't going to be fun to play. I don't think I've ever not kitbashed a monster or vehicle and had no problems!
