Hoanib - The Secrets of the Desert Elephants (wildlife documentary in english)

Hot sand everywhere you look - the Namib is the world's oldest desert and one of the most hostile. But even here, in a valley called Hoanib, there is life! Some animals have evolved unique ways to adapt to the harsh life in such an arid area. The largest of these are desert elephants! To survive in the Namibian desert, they must travel long distances, full of deprivation. Only the alpha cow Clarissa knows where to find the rare water sources. Food is scarce and the heat unbearable, for the young Mayans, the next source of water could already come too late. The old bull One Tusk faces an even harsher fate: he is too old and too weak to join his family's migration. While even tough jackals leave the Hoanib Valley during the dry season to search for food along the coast, One Tusk remains alone, hoping that soon the rain will bring salvation.

I never knew before about Elephants in the Namibian desert. And the other animals as well including Lions. What a hard life it seems for those animals. It was a fascinating documentary! Thank you to the film makers and producers. 🙏

Beau documentaire par contre la narration est à pleurer 😢aucune émotion ne s’en dégage alors que le documentaire sur les lions du désert m’avait fait versé une larme 😢 tellement la narration était émouvante 🥹 et la voix du narrateur Sublimissime .

Could look at this over n over...always brings back memory n sense of awareness as to the harshness n survival instincts of these beautiful animals; 🦁🦒🐘🦌 poor 1 Tusk lived a long 🐘life taught his seeds then expired ( still sad).....interesting the wisdom of these animals living thriving through whatever condition- Thanks for sharing again.

We had the chance to find them after 2 1/2 hour looking for them. It was unbelievable! We were sitting in the open safari-car when the passed 0:41 so nearby that we could have touched them. An unforgettable experience. PeterSaterdag

Thanks for sharing this amazing documentary of the Hoanib Valley in Namibia and its valient wildlife, who meet the elephant's family with Clarissa the alpha female, the offspring Maya, the young Japi and his old father Colmillo. Alltogueter are struggle to find the better conditions of food and water for survive. 🐘🐘🐘🐘❤ Excellent film with great narration.
I sure hope Clarissa explains it all to those younguns

When it comes to endangered species like thecdesert elephants and the desert lions special efforts must be taken to conserve the species. Simply collaring them and leaving them to the mercy of man and nature will not be sufficient. Only 20 to 40 desert lions in the wild far too less.

I love this "Disney" documentaries, i watched since childhood. I find it odd, it is so natural on English, while on my language it would br total unacceptable Documentary has to be of facts. While we love made up stories, in films or cartoons, but they are not documentaries, while having educational values. Somehow it is accepted around the world that English speakers live in lala land, and in their talk fantasy takes a large role.
