The place is so remote I'm sure they've never seen a foreigner before so part of them is scared and these people are also shy that's why some of the kids rather not take the candies. I don't think they know about Covid-19 being that they live so high up in the mountains that's why they got scared when you guys wear masks. The young blind man was so happy & he said to the kids "I also got a bag", he can't see but he can feel so he said there's a soap in his bag that he can take a bath with. He also said thank you. Bring tears into my eyes seeing how happy the young blind man reacting to the gift. Anyway, thank you both for your generosity.

Sort of reminds me when I was trekking in Laos 20 years ago . After 8 hours of trekking through the jungle we came to this village , it must have been strange for them when a couple of white guys turn up and stay the night especially as they have never seen any Europeans before. The kids never stoped following me around , I never had chocolate or anything for them it was hard enough carrying bottles of water in my backpack. When I woke up in the morning about 6 o’clock I went outside the wooden house only to find a bunch of kids waiting to see me . It was a surreal experience one that I will never forget . I will never forget the leeches that I found on my body either. Merry Christmas 🎁

So, let me say "thank you" on behalf of my Hmong people in this village and elsewhere in Laos where you and your wife have visited. By the way, the young man who is blind was saying "candy oh I got candy" and then said "thank you" in Laotian. Yes, he was very happy for the candy 🍬 you gave him as we can tell by his facial expression and gesture. Thank you again and happy new year 🎉 ...
