HMBO Ep. 4: Licensing, Permitting, and Incorporating as a Coffee Roaster in 2020

Ойын-сауық

The moment so many of you have been waiting for... The nitty gritty of starting a business! This information is coming from the multiple business lawyers I have met with and general business knowledge I have acquired during my time owning a company as well as in my course work pursuing my Masters in Business Administration.
I will be going into more detail in the blog post soon to come! Please leave your questions and comments and give it a thumbs up if you liked the video! More videos coming soon.
(If anybody noticed, my microphone wasn't plugged in all the way which was a pain to fix while editing but I think I managed to salvage it, oops)

    Thanks for the videos. I recently started roasting on the Aillio Bullet and love it! We may be moving to Florida from Seattle and I was wondering what the water is like there. I have heard bad reports, and wondered what you recommend for fixing this? I am concerned that the water will change the way I roast. Would love suggestions. Also, do you use roasting software such as Artisan and would you consider doing a roast along video describing roast profiles? Thanks!

    Hello! Thank you for the comment-- I personally use filtered water but its a soft water filter so I still get good use out of it. I think you'll enjoy Florida! I don't currently use software but we are looking to expand soon and that is on the expansion list. I would love to do a roast along video, that's a fantastic idea. Keep an eye out for that one. Best of luck with everything!

    Let's say, If I live in Texas and have an LLC in Florida and my business is strictly online... do I have to file a foreign LLC in the state in which I reside? The taxes in Texas when it comes to small businesses are pretty high. Texas filing fee is 300 for an LLC, then you have the comptroller who comes for your small business every quarterly or how you set up your taxes with them.

    Hey Nuny! I'm assuming you're using the Secretary of State address for you Florida LLC? The answer is no you don't need to file a foreign LLC form. Selling online does not constitute conducting business in the state. However, if you want to ever do any farmers markets or local events, you will need to file the foreign llc.

    How do you sell online to other states? Most of the time when roasting coffee at home for sale it is covered by the Cottage Food Law, which prohibits mailing your items, selling outside the state, and selling to cafes. How have you worked around this? I'd love to hear your feedback! Feel free to send me an email or just comment back. Thanks!

    Hey bro, how do i import roasted coffee from other countries to the usa.

  • @bonde.johnson

    @bonde.johnson

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey man! Best thing to do is to start by working with an importer. If you want to work direct with a farmer you have to go through a bit more of a process, but that is what many people strive to do. The minimums are typically much greater as well.
