HM Bark Endeavour arrives in Hobart

Although she missed the Australian Wooden Boat Festival due to bad weather on the NSW coast, the crew of Endeavour were keen to visit Hobart. On arrival Captain John Dikkenberg was presented with a plaque and pennant by festival Chairman, Steve Knight.

What a beautiful replica of a famous ship ,this one has an engine thank goodness, but I often wonder how back in the day they manoeuvred these vessels in tight spaces and in unfavourable wind conditions , I suppose rowing boats must have taken the place of todays tugboats .

She's a beauty alright. Lesser known fact...the major powers of the day thought so highly of Capt. Cook and his work that it was agreed that naval vessels of competing powers would not attack the Endeavor.

I saw the amount of water coming out of the bilge pump. Does a wooden boat leak that much water all the time?
