“they’re both plastic, so the real one might warp too” This is the worst part of this review. Zero attempt was made to find out what kind of plastic HKS used in their filter. It’s tool grade GFRP, and probably rated for working temperatures beyond the knockoff filter’s flash point. Also zero test of flow rate or filtration level. No longevity tests. This is literally all just a bunch of speculation and opinions based on eyeballing it once for 10 minutes.

I think the color designates the density of the foam, so the knock-off may intentionally be denser because it's replicating a denser filter than the red one.

Really? That’s interesting I didnt know the different colored foams all have different densities! I thought it was just design. The red one does feel softer than the green one. But again it’s way older too. Thanks for the feedback!!

Green is 3 dry layer type and the red is 2 wet layer type.

Although I would always love to get and support authentic parts and pieces. The filter unit isn’t worth the price difference in my opinion $200 vs $25? 😐

for me 25$ isnt worth it either, bought one from aliexpress for 10$ and we did comparison with friend with genuine hks mushroom and there's literally no difference in performance and sound

Air flow maybe restricted on fake on perhaps.....

got me questioning if mine was real I have a green one but turns out it's real... thank god, took the screw out and looked at the foam density.
