HJC RPHA 1 Review | Behind A Desk

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The HJC RPHA 1 starts at P39,490 Philippine Pesos. That number then goes up to P45,000, then all the way up to P53,000 for this particular Austin GP Red Bull colorway. The RPHA 1 is HJC's first-ever dedicated track helmet and it comes with an FIM Homologation, making it the safest lid in the HJC lineup to date. Today, we review the helmet from Behind a Desk with Jinno, who can't stop saying "sana all." Why? Watch to find out!

The FIM Certification makes the RPHA1 a desirable helmet but only in the "normal" colorway. That Red Bull paintjob is just for showing-off that you have the money to willingly "waste" on something that does not serve a purpose but only for relative aesthetics. I am not a Red Bull fan because energy drinks are not healthy for the body, so I guess, hence the snob. If I have 60,000 pesos, and all I am allowed to buy are helmets, I will buy the simple white RPHA1 and then buy the HJC C70 or the HJC HQ1 or the HJC FG ST for when RPHA 1 is down for cleaning (nasa labahan). The HJC C70, HJC HQ1, and HJC FG ST have 5 stars rating from SHARP, better than the RPHA 11 with only 3 stars. But here's the thing. If that Red Bull RPHA1 is just 500 pesos more than the simple white RPHA1, then I'll have it. My point here is "porma" has no function in terms of safety. Nagpapamahal lang yan sa presyo ng isang bagay, but if "porma" does not cost me one of my nuts then why not, I'll get the "porma" for porma's sake. Just being practical. We don't shit gold like the Lannister's do.

Nice review, thank you. I will caution people looking to purchase this helmet; it fits VERY snug. I have owned a helmet (or helmets) from every major manufacturer. Always have worn a large. I have an RPHA 11 pro (large), fits great. I purchased this exact helmet in large, and after about 30 mins of wear it becomes uncomfortable to wear. After 40-45 minutes it becomes excruciating. So, that being said, if you buy one, wear it for about an hour while watching TV or something. Don’t get stuck with an $1k helmet you can’t return (like me).

that sounds awful, but maybe it is because of your head shape and maybe wrong fit. I have this helmet, and I rate this as one of the most comfortable helmets ( i have had agv corsa, shoei rf1400, nexx xr3r) it cuts through wind so much easier, and my head doesn't bobble at 80-90mph in the freeway. and like others mentioned, try fiddling around with pads and foams to adjust to your liking.

I felt it exactly like you. My RPHA11 M size is just perfect. But when i bought the RPHA 1 with the same size i felt a bit tight on the cheeks but secure. After half an hour it was like someone was putting screws on my temples... Need to stop every hour to release the pain. Finally i managed to test the L size with success. No more pain on the head and perfect fit. I may just change the cheeks to put some bulkier ones. So watch out if you have a RPHA 11 it may be good to think about trying the size over.

RPHA1 is a great helmet no doubt. I have an RPHA11 too with Marvel graphics and I wanna try that latest and greatest from HJC. But with that price tag especially for the RedBull graphics, I'd rather get another Shoei X14, wait for the Shoei X-SPR Pro to be released or buy an Arai RX7X. Nothing bad with the RPHA1 and the FIM rating is a plus but not everyone is willing to shell out 45-50k php on an HJC, most people will just spend it on a helmet from more reputable brands.

I read your comment and i think the HJC is just as reputable, granted this is there first time competing at the very highest level I believe they are just as good as the others pretty much. Full disclosure i currently own a HJC APHA 11 but have owned other helmets! Bottom line what fits you best that you can afford! 😊
