HJ HOLDEN REBUILD or
WHAT I DID DURING COVID...
This clip shows just a bit of what was involved bringing our 1975 Holden ute back to life. But what you see here is pretty much what any rebuild of old machinery involves. Lots of cleaning, playing, trying and finally bolting together,

Great work John. Good to see you getting some old projects “finished” (there’s always something else to do). My HQ has been registered for 15 years and there’s still some things that need doing since the full rebuild. Make sure the kids carry the old Holden mantle.

Love it. Such a shame we don’t have Holdens anymore. Simply good value for money vehicles. Drove well, reliable and looked good. Thanks for sharing

Great Those old Holden's are piss easy to work on too. Modern vehicles 4x4 included are full of electronics designed to make things harder or impossible for the backyarder. The other side of the coin breakdown on the road is so easy to repair. P.s..... Mum total me to stop feeling things when I was boy!

Don't forget to connect the heater hoses to the inlet manifold. Makes it run heaps better, especially when cold.

I still dearly miss both my EJ's, my 202 HX Kingswood, my 202 HJ Prem. I was a stupid young kid and stupidly sold them back in the day when they were worth peanuts. Now...sigh...it's like thinking back on your first love. Lovely job there mate, she's a beauty and I have a special place in my heart for the 202. If I had the money, I'd love to own an old Holden, pretty much done with BS, insanely complicated, poor;y built new cars that you can't get parts for 5 years after new. It's a shame though that these cars can't really be driven as dailies anymore because they're so valuable. Of course they're fun to drive and show off on special days.

The balance and blueprint sounded nice and smooth. Good thing about Holden back in the day was there were lots and lots of em parked behind farmers sheds, plenty of parts, sometimes given away, now they’re like gold..
