This figure really makes me wish Hiyatoys would either go back and redo their planet of the Apes figures or get to make some for Kingdom of the planet of the apes 😅

The reason they had cgi model for the skull crawler but not kong is becuse it was i.l.m (industrial light and magic) who did the cgi on skull island and hiya might not have had acces to one of the biggest cgi Companys models. Then how do they have the skull crawler model then???? My gusse is they used the model from gvk not skull island (sorry if i made any spelling mistakes)

Don’t even worry about the spelling mistakes, because I think you’re right on the money there! Never occurred to me at all that the Skullcrawler was likely just an asset from GvK. Damn. Good noodle!

Getting this chonkie boi regardless but yeah, it’s with said chonk that I’m getting a Peter Jackson’s King Kong vibe from him. The articulation is great, hopefully all the positives from the two Kong releases gives us an amazing GxK Kong. Great review as always my brotha and congrats on the Hiya Toys collaboration!!!

While true, he’s still very much an upgrade from the GvK Kong in terms of articulation. A mixed Monke bag. But at least it’s not ALL downers here.

1:10 is the funniest part to me for some reason. 8:11 When this figure was shown off in promos, I knew there something off. Seeing it side by side with stills from the movie, it's very apparent the likeness was somewhat missed. At least Hiya will know their little goof from this vid (Congrats on the sponsor from them!)

Sorry if is a hard question but , I have a Hiya toys Godzilla 2019 figure that i recently buy that it has 2 small articulation parts stuck in the tail , when I try to move it it doesn’t move it only rotates a little bit I have tried to heat the affected part with a dryer and it doesn't work . I have also submerged it in hot water while it was covered with a bag and it doesn't work either. Taking into account your experience with this type of figures I wanted to ask you this question.

My only suggestion when faced with this issue is keep trying with the heating method. Maybe keep it under the hair dryer a bit longer, some joints (as I’ve seen) can be REALLY stuck and need a bit more the heat and a jostle to really get them going. Just be careful, is all.

Harold from Figuremania pointed out how it looks like this waist fits better with the GvK one, vice versa. I wonder if someone would do that so that the rest of us could see how it looks. If it is better, I probably would buy duplicate of both to make it.

The thiccness of this figure at all as yes it's not 100% accurate it still looks looks like a young kong from the monsterverse and way more like a monsterverse accurate kong then SHMA

Yes, Thiccness aside, he’s still got his higher points! SHMA may still have the articulation game played but… oof.. their Kong is uh. Not great. lol I’m all for Hiya to continue experimenting and perfecting the craft!

Awesome Review yet again Rob! Yeah he does look a bit off but from certain angles he did match that of the Movie, for example here 10:11 at least imo. But overall a nice MONKE BOI! still can't believe Suko is as bog as this Kong...🤣 ALSO WHERE THA CHEEKS?!🫣

That buck could be a good usage for one or some of Skar King's Loyalists. Hoping Hiya does make some of them especially since some of us don't customs.

the face looks pretty good, it looks like Kong but the torso is kinda idk man it's kinda thick. personally i like Kong 2021 more! let's see what Hiya has in store for us for the GxK line!

It may not be accurate, but that articulation is what the doctor ordered.

Like holy hell they even put detail for the dark brown withering/wear in the center of the moulers for the roar head hiya goin the extra mile

Personally, I like the bulkier Kong so this doesn’t make or break it at all for me. I’ll definitely pick this one up over GvK

Oh, when you look at this Kong and you may see a Ron Perlman expression in it.

I think at this point, the GxK version will likely become the main model for GvK Kong, if ever there is a reissue. Very much hoping that it’s the perfect combination.

Hopefully they get GxK version right.

I was exited that i could get a figure of my favourite kong design but now i thing hiya screwed up with kong.

Hiya is soooo close to striking Gold with Kong, if they fix the sculpt, keep the articulation, it will be better than SHMA.

The material for this figure is lighter than previous Hiya releases, and while yes, he does have a bit of gloss on him, I think they made the right decision to go lighter. Feels like they opened the figure up more. The only downside being the 50/50 accurate representation.
