Five hundred odd years later we "Up North" still fight the Wars of the Roses, but with humour rather than swords. Nice to see that where "Soft Southern Shandy Drinkers" are concerned that Northern solidarity still rules.

Yep, Patrick Stewart (who we all know as Picard and Xavier) is from Midfield, West Yorkshire, not too far from where I live and a good 20 to 30 mins away from Leeds. Another actor, Tom Wilkinson, who played John F. Kennedy's dad in The Kennedys miniseries, Lyndon B. Johnson in Selma and Benjamin Franklin in John Adams (another miniseries), is also from West Yorkshire - Wharfdale, to be exact

Yeah boi! And if American tourists want a proper English holiday/trip, then they should go to Yorkshire. In fact, I'd even go as far to say that they're more tolerated over up north, than in say London. One of my high school maths teachers was straight from Ohio, I'll have you know

In 1912 Hitler (then aged 23) spent a year in Liverpool as guest of one of his sisters & her English husband who lived in Liverpool. He seems to have left after a falling out. I guess his opinions of Lancashire expressed in this video are based on personal experience :D

***** There is ample documentation of Hitler's Liverpudlian family connections & of his stay there during 1912. He stayed at Upper Stanhope street in Toxteth & drank at the Poste House Pub. During this period Hitler also visited & toured London. Not only did Hitler have a sister & a half-brother in Liverpool, he also had a Liverpudlian nephew William Patrick Hitler (1911-87) who made much of the connection after Hitler's rise to power. "Willie" first went to Germany seeking favour of his famous Uncle, but finally ended up in the USA where he changed his surname to Stuart-Houston. Google it: plenty of good info available although some is conflicting or less clear. I have not found anything of van Gogh playing football for Brentford reserves, but it is possible. He was certainly there & a regular lay preacher at a nonconformist chapel at Turnham Green.

Cambridge, Chichester, Exeter, Ludlow, Bury St Edmunds, Market Harborough, Canterbury, much of London, parts of Warwickshire, Somerset, Dorset, Sussex, all look nice though. Although the suburbs of southern cities like Cambridge are often really bland and some southern cities are barely worth calling cities at all - if they were in the north, they'd be one of the smaller towns. Northern cities tend to have a lot more dramatic architecture/landscaping to them.

I like it but I thought we were going on the piss in Bridlington though I love that bit alot
