Ganz's performance is pure genius. I saw Downfall when it was released. The audience reeled back in their seats when Ganz erupted into one of Hitler's rages. It was a terrifying experience. Downfall should be re-released in theatres so people can really appreciate and respect the total brilliance of Ganz's portrayal.

You know minus the praise for Himmler this is fairly accurate. I enjoy parodies that does that. Seems more inventive. And to those people who keep saying that the subtitles are false: of course they are. It's called a parody after all.

At first he decides that the Luftwaffe (German airforce) must be rebuilt from scratch and this time "there can't be any mistakes". Considering the Luftwaffe is as good as completely destroyed by this point of the war he's delusional. He wants the Luftwaffe to be strong and have no weakness. Then he goes on his tirade about how important it is to be strong. Basically he says that a nation can't afford to be weak because life forgives no weakness (typical fascist belief) and also that "foreign races" can only be subdued with force because there simply is no other way of doing it. He also says that "feeling compassion for the weak is treason against the laws of nature" (very typical fascist belief). Before getting the letter about Himmler's betrayal he mentions how chimps kill any outsider and what is true for chimps must also be true for people. He actually says absolutely nothing about Himmler before reading the letter. After reading that Himmler went behind his back and tried to decide for Germany to surrender (in real history he had some insane demands the allies would *never* have accepted and they wanted unconditional surrender at any rate) he is first shocked by it being Himmler (out of all) who betrayed him. Then he says that Himmler must have "lost his mind" or that he justified his stupid decision by simply claiming that Hitler was too ill and weak to be consulted or that he even already was dead! The lines about Goering and Speer are mostly correct. He says that it doesn't surprise him that Goering would betray him because he was always corrupt and that Speer is just some unpredictable artist detached from the world - and everybody else, yes yes yes yes (as in "I already expected that from them"). "Out of all people, Himmler! The most loyal of all the loyal..." He finally orders Ritter Greim to fly out of Berlin and make sure Himmler is punished for his treason. Since Himmler isn't there in person Hitler orders Himmler's adjutant Fegelein to be fetched and placed in front of him because he wants to speak to him immediately (presumably to find out if *he* knows something about Himmler's plans).

Actually VERY accurate. Albert Speer reported that Hitler had two epic rages in his final week. One was when Goering assumed Hitler was dead and said he was assuming the office of Fuhrer. The other was when Himmler's negotiations were reported. As the Russians were less than 48 hours from reaching the Reichstag, Himmler's betrayal finally convinced him once and for all that it really was all over - by the time the Russian's reached the Reichstag, Hitler and Eva Braun were dead.

Thank you for uploading this clip. The late Bruno Granz is excellent as the Nazi leader. I wonder if he at some point watched "Which Way to the Front ?" (1970) with its powerful portrayal of Hitler by Sidney Miller. Perhaps gave him some inspiration.

Im watching all these videos but I cant get off my mind from that iPhone X parody. I still laugh about it when i was in class this morning.

At 1:10 you can see how Deluded Hitler had become towards the end of his life. Even though everyone knew that the war was all but lost and the destruction of both the Nazi state and him was apparent as early as 1941 (after the defeat in the battle of Moscow)....It was not until moments before his death that he finally realized that the battle was lost.

And yet this isn't "parody" at all. MOST of the time the translations, while being very poor, capture the GENERAL essence of what is being communicated. No attempt is made to interject anything of comedic value. Parodies are supposed to be funny, sarcastic, ironic, surreal, etc. - they are supposed to offer an alternative narrative that elicit an emotional response (laughing, sadness, anger) and ideally, prompt the viewer into discovering a different perspective towards the original material. None of that is happening here, this is a waste of time.
