Flash Point History you are very imprecise in mapping Hungary, it encompassed the whole Carpathian Basin at that time when Frederick Barbarossa crossed through it. And he never went through Romania, which at that time didn't exist. His route was through Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and Thrace.

I'm still in confusion about something. Why was Phillip so passive in allowing himself to be suboordinated by Richard when he arrived... What made Richard so obviosly senior? Then after Acre was captured why did Philip leave really? Seems to me he could have stayed and participated, and remained a big contender for powersharing in a recaptured Crudader Kingdom...
Amazing video - Saladin was undoubtedly a brilliant general, but since he never defeated Richard I in any battle, it truly shows what an amazing warrior king Richard truly was. Whilst Muslims like to glorify Saladin, we in the West rarely speak of Richard's accomplishments.

So tragic that Barbarossa was lost by drowning. If he had lived and could have been united with the Austrians, English, and French etc., there would have been no problem. I had a German friend who recited a German poem to me about a German knight who was with Barbarossa through Turkey and was harassed by Turks firing arrows at him and his armor from behind the rocks. Apparently the Turk put himself off guard because the knicht was able to draw his sword and split the Turk in half from head to toe. What an age! Thank you for this video. It gives a rather complete explanation of the dynamics that were at play.

The actual cause of his death was a heart attack, actually. His accomplishments and the battles he fought were pretty impressive, though. He literally crushed the turks and put them into submission at two notable battles. Considering Iconium was a capital city of seljuk turks, his campaign militarily ended up with an outstanding achievement.
