@@HeroRR history of the r1
I remember way back in the early 90's,a co-worker I worked with, showed up to work, riding his all Black 87' Kawi GPZ-600,and at the time (to me at least),it looked like a truly quick machine! We were both mechanics working for a car dealership, and he was showing me all the upgrades he had done on it,and how quick it was,so I said "Prove-it!" and he asked me how could he literally prove it to me? And I smiled from ear to ear an said "Let me ride down the block real quick" and he laughed and said "Here dude, take my helmet, your gonna NEED IT the second you twist that grip! " so I started it up and clicked er into gear and as soon as I pulled out onto the roadway,I NAILED the gas in 1st-3rd gears, coming close to redline in each gear and OMG!!! THAT THING blew my eyeballs out of their sockets!!! He changed the gearing on it,rejetted the carbs. and stuck an aftermarket exhaust on it,so she was more than willing to roll! Best memory I ever had! : >)
I can’t stress enough for people to watch your “The history of” sport bike videos. GREAT, fact based information! As a 4 year owner of the 2014 Kawasaki Zx6r “636” I can assure you that if you haven’t ever ridden one, YOU NEED TO!! There’s no other “600cc” sport bike out there that performs like it. Out of owning a Cbr 600 F4, a Cbr 600F4i , Gsxr 600, Cbr 600rr, Gsxr 750, & currently owning a 07 Cbr 600rr, & the ‘14 Zx6r..There’s just nothing like it. Extremely well put together, Great power & awesome handling.

Thank you for the history. As a returning rider last year it was a big surprise to me that Kawasaki's were the most sensible. When I stopped riding 13 years ago, Kawasaki's were known to be powerful but a little unrefined. They're class now, from fit to finish. I purchased the Z900RS Cafe and it looks and feels amazing. The ZX6R has a rich history and it will definitely be in my next list.

@HeroRR, thank you so much for this video. You literally took me back through very heartfelt memories with this bike. I bought a brand new ‘96 ZX-6R as my first street motorcycle, and this video was such a nice trip down memory lane for me. Thank you!
Great video. If I remember correctly, the Ninja 600, ZX-6 and ZX-6R were all available at the same time brand new at dealers for a year or 2.

The B1H ? That was mine after the KR1s stroker i rode for a year after passing. Loved that zx6r & took me everywhere, & still does , its so good i kept it & it has a couple of other bike buddies by its side - R1 & a wr450f .
My first bike was a 2003 ZZR600 ( ZX-6 )!! Although unfortunately no longer with me as it has been involved in a wreck, I am glad I did own it, it was a heck of a a bike and I can't wait to ride again! On something more manageable than a young man on a 600.
Dude! The way you present these machines is so captivating. I've been hoping you'd do one for the ZX6R ever since i watched the CBR one. I own an '07 and, to me, just like the '07 CBR, it's the most beautiful of these bikes.
Still holds it title as a iconic legendary bike til this day thanks Kawasaki ✊🏻✨
The 2013 ZX6-R was my first choice of 600cc bike, however it came at a cost... over $13000 AUD back in 2018. So instead I got a 2011 CBR600RR at $6500 AUD instead. What I loved was the projector headlights. I did a ZX6-R headlight conversion on my Ninja 300 when I was on my learners LOL.
Great insight, fantastic background data, and excellent analysis of not only this historic bike but the history of the entire 600 class!
I currently own a Ninja 650R and was planning on buying a new ZX-6R this fall (wanted to save up a sizeable down payment). I'm so glad I didn't buy one before the 2024 model came out. I cannot freaking wait to get this bike! Still won't be able to keep up with my friend on his Aprilia RSV4 on the straight aways, but I'll be a hell of a lot closer than my 650R, lol.

It was 18 years ago! The image of the latest ZX 6R in bright Kawasaki Lime Green donning the cover of my notebook and a young teenage me day dreaming in class riding one, still fresh in my mind 😌
I’ve owned a ‘96 (purple/red). And in its day it was a powerhouse of a motorcycle. Even today it will keep up with most bikes. Sweet handeling and brakes. I would own one again in a heartbeat.
I love how the 2005 zx6r looks
Can’t wait to watch these man, I’m in love with the series!!!
Good to see this. My very first bike after passing my bike test in 2005 was a 2003 B1H. It was like having a fighter jet compared to the 500cc riding school bike I was used to. Everyone said it’s a bad first bike but it was great. The advice from my instructor was ti get what I want. He said your in control of the throttle and brakes so it’s up to me! He was right as I think I would get bored quickly on a lesser bike. I’ve had several bikes since then from Suzuki Honda, YamahaI and Triumph. Today I have a 2007 ZX6R that I’m doing up as a crash damaged project. Can’t wait to finish it over the winter and ride it. I’m already thinking about my next one. The 2007 model has been so easy to work on and the build quality is very good. Exhaust header nuts are spotless. Can’t say that about the 2008 R6 I had before.
Finally, Best Bike History Videos Out there. So much Love so much Passion. Greetings from Germany Bro. BTW Keep the RC51 forever ❤
LoL. My first bike was a GPZ 400. That felt like the fastest thing in the world. XD

Hi Hero, great video. Thank you as it brought back so many memories of racing in the Australian Supersports series (600’s) and then the Superbikes (750 4 cylinder Japanese and the 916 Ducati) in the 90’s. Interestingly, my road bike wasn’t even considered as a race bike as it didn’t fit any of the classes at the time. The original Fireblade. It’s just a shame for the American riders who aspired to these bikes they were incredibly over taxed thanks to the Reagan tax on these and his attempt to keep HD going. Interestingly on the tax that Australians didn’t have to worry about also didn’t hurt the sales of HD as they still sold as well as they do today. Different bikes for different riders. 👍😎🇦🇺

I enjoyed a good number of years on both the J Model (rebadged 2005 ZZR-600) and true Ninja 2005 ZX-6R (636ccTitanium). As a taller rider the ZZR-600 made a lot more sense unless you were riding at a track day. I eventually supersized my ZX-6R experience and bought a 2003 ZX-9R (F2 in silver). For tall guys that was truly epic and will remain my favorite sports bike ever.

Just got myself a 1999 ZX6R for £1400 which is good where I live in the UK, 6 owners and 53k miles. Should interesting since I last rode a 125cc over 5 years ago.
The first one you shown 2013 Matt white and black… I had that one back in Vancouver. Coolest bike I ever had, I still remember just went to the parking lot and looked at it, put a big smile on my face every time.
I've been a Gsxr fan boy forever. Thanks to you I'm starting to become a Kawi fan. Thanks bro 💪🏾
Thanks for making these style of videos! Love em
I bought brand new 85 red white ninja 600, at the time was fastest best handling 600 full sport bike, 5 yrs 60k plus miles not one part failure and rode it like i stole it. Had 2 zx6's best middle weight bikes to this day in my opinion. All tough fast and reliable. Brother had original 900 ninja. Kawasaki started the sport bike wars.
I’ve had 4 of these, my first was bak in 1989 when I picked up a nearly new 1987 model. Years later I got a 98 E model & then a J model that I still have along with my newest 2021 636. Love all my Ninjas 💚

One of the pictured "600s" is actually the ZX750E turbo. It has GPz on the crank covers. It is the one with a rider leaning to the left. It was the 1st production bike in the 1/4 mile 10s. I know as I have one. The class can arguably have been started by the GPZ550. One of the best handling in the early 80s.

Way cool you have the 750 Turbo! Pretty hard to find a good one as well as a 85’ GPZ 550. Both extremely desirable vintage iron imo. The regular 750 wasn’t bad either. But I really do like the way the 550 handles better than the 750 or 1100.
Great video, missing 2003 zx6rr with factory slipper for first time
Great Job on the video, Thanks!
Best history class ever
Thank you for the great video!!
Nicely done sir.
Always been a bit of a Kawi fan,, they seem to make bikes that fit into niches that other bikes just don't quite manage. I started out on a GPZ250 back in the day and have owned a couple of the smaller Kawi road bikes over the years as well as the old tractor - the KLR650. I'm going down a different road for my next bike, but I've always wanted a 636. Also, in terms of the power losses from the emission restrictions, that is nothing that an exhaust and tune can't fix!
I love my 636. Great vid.
Fun fact- The 2010 Zx6r 600c was still built all the way up to 2017. I believe since they still had to homologate a 600cc for the wssp class. this 600cc was sold alongside the 636 but almost no one knew about it. Because people didnt believe me, I actually ended up messaging Steven Odendal ( a runner up in wssp 600 in 2021) and he said aswell that all the bikes were still 600cc up untill they changed the rules in 2022.
I still think the ‘03 636 is the best looking SuperSport, I really regret selling mine.
Great presentation of the 600 ninja and never realized how important the little ninja was or is for sport bike history and especially for the 600 class. The 2003 man🍆 i may take a look at the 2023 it's definitely a thoroughbred

I have a 2014 zx6r and it actually has two riding modes low power and Full power along with 3 traction control settings with an option to turn off as well.and yes ABS of course. All this back in 2013 when Honda and Yamaha did not have abs and power modes till 2017.
Well done ! Bravo bravo 👏
The weird thing is that in the 90s Kawasaki was making two different 600s, the ZX6R and the ZX600R. Unfortunately, when you google "ZX600R", pretty much all the results are for the 6R. The 600R was also known as the GPX 600R overseas, so that is a better search term.
Had an ‘08 zx6 loved it as well as an ‘05 zx10 both awesome

I miss my ZX-6R. I would like another one. I just need to get back into riding shape.
Early 2000 I bought a 99 G2 ZX-6R, It felt really fast. Better than the guy I used to ride with on a ZX-7R, I put it down to lighter bike & rider. 2003 I moved to France with it and had to have it restricted by law. Race can replaced with std and throttle restrictors fitted (3/4 opening) it made 105 bhp on the dyno. Limit was 100 + 5%, no wonder pre 2003 it pulled close to redline in 6th with slim, speed crazed me.

Hey there bro you should definitely do a video on the Kawasaki Ninja E-1 bud
Keith Code's school used the 636 when I took the 2-day school in '08(I think) at Loudon(the last year they did Loudon). After that I think Cali superbike school went with the S1000R. The BMW excites me far more than the green machine.
Try and get a ride on a well set up and tuned 85’ GPZ 550. That might blow your mind. I think one of the coolest in the Team Green genetic lineage. Actually amazing considering no liquid cooling, only 2 valves per cylinder, no aluminum Frame or 17” wheels yet but WOW they could really get after it for a middleweight at that time!!
Love all engines in the 2003 zx6
