I am a lifelong Lakers fan since 1980, and, as such, hate the Spurs, but Ginobili was my second-favorite player after Kobe (post-Shaq) during their primes. A left-hander as well, and the best player to ever come out of South America.

Manu Ginobli give the move a signature for almost a decade using it in finals. It was amazing to watch the angles of the attacks and the quick switches in such a gigantic range. A really intelligent and agile player of the 2000s and 2010s with a big gama of resources like these.

If you do your homework, the eurostep was absolutely started in the 60's. Elgin Baylor was one of the first NBA players to do the eurostep. Im not sure if he invented it, but it was one of his signature moves. There is video of Elgin Baylor doing the eurostep if you google Elgin Baylor eurostep.

It does look like a euro step so I mis-spoke on the first person to do it but I did plenty of research on it's origin It's very difficult to find that video unless you literally put his name in front of it and that is for folks who want to challenge the idea who know it exists. While I understand that. There is not much footage of that. To be fair if we have all these older men who saw Baylor play and get paid on TV to speak basketball, the fact that they never spoke out against calling this the euro step is a reason why it would be called this I can only go off of the majority of the information I found while doing this and his name came up once or twice but not enough for me to bring him up I do believe you guys who keep bringing him up though but this topic and topics like this are always tough to get right who “created” a move in sports

You can see ex-Yugoslavian/Croatian player Danko Cvjetićanin using that move in the 80s, as well as Dejan Bodiroga (who did it best), Sasha Danilović, etc. One guy from the 70s Yugoslavia, Serbian Dragan Kićanović was the first to use it, but there aren't many videos of him online.

At this point I think we've all seen the videos of Domonique Wilkins using the "euro-step" back in the early 80s. Although some will credit Elgin Baylor in the 60s, Nique's was what we see today. Except unfortunately, refs called it a travel. It just so happens that refs stopped calling that move a travel when some european player came into the league using the exact same move.

@@KY-YE You can have input and opinions with out discrediting. I can honestly say in my research it never came up that Baylor did this. That’s a miss on my end and it does lead to the point you are making about the narrative being controlled. In this case I m saying there is evidence of both parties doing this in 50/60s with one side having more people claimjg it and the data sources pointing towards that side If the “Baylor stutter” or whatever it was called had more people pushing that narrative it may be more balanced discussion. Baylor was the first NBA super star and one of the greatest scorers this league has ever seen so much respect to him. He’s a legend. I learned something new from you. I KZread’s some videos and saw him making a move that looks like an early version of the step so we can discuss the origins but the fact is too many of these things are he or she say. There are a ton of stories of Wilt doing things we can’t prove he did for example Regarding the “homeboy” ref, I default to that when I don’t wanna use street language.
