Nihilism is the waking up of the mind in the cold dark vacuum of existence. Any rational though would necessarily lead to some sense of Nihilism or at least pessimism

Hard to stay grounded with your head in the clouds. In our modern affluent western society the simple things food, water, shelter, come relatively easily compared to just a few centuries ago, this easy life is leaving alot of people empty without a natural struggle that gives meaning to the human state.

Some relevant points, it’s always a pleasure listening to Wes. However as others have suggested there seemed to be alot missing from this, particularly mention to nihilistic social movements (e.g. the Russian nihilists) and of course Nietzsche’s commentary on nihilism as a natural reaction to modernity as well as Kierkegaard’s notions of the “public”, Ressentiment, the cultural turn toward introversion, reflection and social conformity.

No Wes, it is not weird. It's all relativism. We live in a very materialistic society. And it is all based on your internal desire that's all. So as tell people often ...know thy self. Know the difference between what you NEED and what you WANT.

@@pinosantilli8297 What do you think about things related to mental health? Like community, shelter from violence, etc. Are things that increase your mental health needs or luxuries? And what about sex? Do you think that is a need or a want? I ask because I'm trying to determine whether needs are absolute or relative.

Tasheem Hargrove Yes mental health is important but I’m not completely sure what mental health is? That could be a little tricky to define. We could all improve our mental and physical aspects til the day we die. I didn’t say that having your basic needs alone will make your life worthwhile. But you can live. I think companionship may be necessary you wouldn’t want to be the only person on the planet. Sex is not a necessity you won’t die if you don’t have it. Harder when ur younger of course because your body wants to reproduce like any other animal.

Okay... So how do you spot someone that's smart but they are not a genuine Nihilist? Like a Nihilist that knows their Nihilism well. You get Alexia Cortes to sit in the room, ask everyone in the room to put their hands up if they are a nihilist. A true Nihilist will not put their hand up. No freaking way.

Whomever pushes incredibly hard toward nihilism right now is that particular side of the world, that particular continent, that think they are the strongest yet their infrastructure itself, and other elements there, make them kind of weak. Okay?? We can be able to talk about nihilism later, much later. If I was to be Wes Cecil, I'd organize a meeting with my students and and ask them to put their hands up if they are a Nihilist. Many of them are just naive, Wes will say. Yet, there do exist many true Nihilists there, and Wes Cecil will see that I am mostly correct in fact...

The fastest way to make a state go democratic during a election is to add a bill like legalizing weed/shrooms or decriminalizing it. This increases the number of ppl who vote by 30% who purely show up to vote on the issue and end up voting democratic too.

It’s quite obvious that you have never read Stirner. Atheism - like christianity - is yet another spook. Another belief system based on the idea that existence is black and white. There is no such thing as “atheism”, as we live in a world formed out of religion, dogma and hegemony. If you can’t grasp that basic fact you’re not going to get very far.

No it's not, it's living in America and currently doing the very same work it did around the world almost a century ago. That's the essence of the eternal return - your favourite gum coming back in style again. You could ask David Bowie or Phillip Jeffries, but both of them are dead. How could they know? Thoughts and prayers, from Finland.
