My favorite thing about the dual blades has always been the fact that it doesn't matter how small of a window you have to hit the monster, you can still get some damage in. A lot of the clunkier weapons can't really say that.

Yes my main! I absolutely LOVE the adrenaline that this weapon gives when you know what your doing, no other weapon makes me as hyped as this one when I´m dancing around a monster without getting hits and going super agressive towards my target.

I love the dual blades because of the high mobility of the weapon. Feral demon mode might be nice for dishing out major damage but I feel like it goes against the playstyle of the dual blades which is to run around freaking fast but it could just be me I prefer speed over attack or defense and the standard demon mode scratch that itch. It's hella fun dodging monster attacks by running away instead of dodge rolling and looking for an opening to cut up the monster and if I get greedy I got my counter to save my ass. To me the dual blades are all about flow and to never stop moving which feels so fucking satisfying.

For all my years of playing monster hunter I have never touched the dual blads. Just never seemed appealing to me. But seeing it explained really makes it sound much more interesting and honestly I might try it for once.

They’re so much fun, tbh, and super easy to get the hang of. If you’re having trouble with a monster with a slower weapon, the odds are that dual blades can probably kill it much easier. DB’s have carried me through two monster hunter games and I’ve only recently started branching out beyond them and hammer with personal challenges with world(I’m basically doing a solid play through on every single weapon. Recently did longsword and I’m about to do Lance, switch axe, or hunting horn). Long story short, they’re definitely worth checking out.

as a Dual Blades main who's trapped in 3U for now, i am glad to know my weapon of choice isn't just a meme. personally, i chose dual blades because i love dps over tactics. the more damage i can do to an enemy in a video game in 5 seconds the better my day is XD

Holy crap, we're down to the Lance and Bowguns already?

The main benefit to tower vault for me is that you can jump in the air without having to put your weapon away. this means you can do things like jumping after a rath when its flying and doing a midair attack down its back without having to attack it first like the a button vault

Excited to see my favorite weapon get absolutely shit on (lance)

The vault attack is primarily used to set up an instant buzzsaw down the back if used right

A few things I'd like to add as a DB main since 4U: -With arcdemon mode, dash juice is no longer mandatory. You can use the arcdemon moves while your stamina is recharging before firing up demon mode again, adding a layer of resource management that makes using the DB's more engaging; in my opinion, at least. -The Piercing Bind is the DB's primary part-breaking utility in Rise. Also, Shrouded Vault functions the same as the Demon/Arcdemon Adept evade from Generations. -Tower Vault is absolutely useless. Not only does it get rid of the aforementioned part-breaking utility, you can also accomplish the same goal by using ZL+X with the weapon sheathed, hit ZR, then the Ackermann Spine Rush.

Tower Vault's actually got surprising niche use against fliers and as a funky aerial combo tool in demon mode where once you're in the air, you can cancel the x air attack with tower vault mid air to do the same thing, basically letting you focus on one part of a monster running away. It's pretty fun imo. I also just hate piercing bind because I hate the wirebug commitment and it feels like an extra dps mandate but eh

@@greenhillmario I initially hated Piercing Bind too, until realizing just how useful it is for breaking parts. Plus, I have Demon Flight, flash bombs, and normal wirebug movement for anti-air purposes.

One thing about the spinning attack in generation 4 is that while in demon mode you can still access the spin outside of combos by using the kick button, which was usually assigned to the minus button on the 3ds/switch. The minus button performed multiple unique actions for all weapons but none as useful as Dual Blades.

You can use the Tower Vault to prolong your aerial combo in Rise which is only really useful for damage against the two new Elder Dragons (I even saw it in Speedruns). So you would do normally A into the Air follow up with X (if the monster is big enough) and end the combo with A for the AoT Attack assuming you are in Demon Mode. You can actually chain one more X attack after the first one when you use Tower vault in between and the damage in the air is very well worth it. I think you could also use it as a evade option in the air. Love your vids, man btw

This was a nice early b-day present, now all six of my weapons have been covered. I knew I wasn't wrong in calling it 'Dual Swords', I knew I remembered them as that. But DB were a weapon that I tried to be better with in the old days. I used them and GS in MHF1 and besides Lao-Shan (I would tear up his belly with Demon Dance) I couldn't do well with my DB in Gen 1 and 2. They really didn't come alive for me until Generations, Aerial was the shot in the arm the weapon really needed (I was legit surprised when you said in the vid Striker was one of the highest used styles, but you did the research not me). Gen I used Fever Frenzy and Wolf's Maw, then GenU I added Sprial Slice to the mix if it was a 'soft' monster. Adding in the fact that attacks in the air had 'Mind's Eye', Aerial could rip through practically everything. DB in Rise is insane, you just lose yourself in it there. I personally don't like Piercing Bind myself, even though with Feral Demon Mode (which moves you closer to the kunai after planting it), I don't stay in one spot on a monster for long (Outside Demon Dance), but that's just me. I actually prefer Towering Vault so I chase things into the air to beyblade along their back (lookin at you two dragons), especially since Demon Flight only launches you into the air if you hit something, meaning if your target is flying you have less chance to hit it unless its tail or something is hanging low. Plus, to do the beyblade on the monster you have to be 'above' it. Anywho, thanks for giving me the history of the Dual Swords/Dual Blades. It really has come a long way from where it was and I hope they add the Glutton Set to Rise (Turns the DB into a Fork and Knife).

Wasnt there a glitch back in mhfu where you can spam the demon dance button inputs to still do the demon dance even tho ur stamina has been depleted

I really miss old mega dash juice. Aside from that it was my secondary weapon in World/Iceborne and now Rise. The new movesets you can do with it, those gnarly aerial attacks, are just so much fun. Absolutely love it and its always been a favorite of mine.

I just love it when I run out of stamina only to get combod by the monster

Also rise changed the arch demon dance a bit and world and rise had the Levi spins on the monster which is amazing! Love the weapons history videos so far!

10:14 That was only in MH4. DB always had a modifier to halve sharpness loss since you it twice as fast as other weapon, but they decided to remove it in 4. It absolutly killed the weapon in the base game so they reversed it in MH4U.

Finally my secondary weapon has been chosen by SuperRadGod. Keep the good content boy; love from mexico.

Dual blades were fun to use on giant slow monsters and can't forget the almighty dash juice addiction

Despite the fact this weapon encourages you to constantly be in harm's way, this is my safest weapon. Evasion window up with that short dash allows me to dodge so many fainting shots.

HELL YEAH, FINALLY! I was expecting this one for a while. LET'S GOOOO, FREEEEEEE!

As someone who changes weapons every time they start a new Monster Hunter, because otherwise muscle memory will betray me, I still need to try Dual Blades. I tried them in Freedom 2 as my first ever weapon but quickly changed to Hammer. Dual Blades against Yian Kut Ku was like... suffering... and I never went back. I'll have to give them a try eventually.

I will say, as someone who mains both dual blades and hammer, monsters with bigger or easier to reach heads are much better for hammer. Faster monsters or monsters who’s heads aren’t readily reachable are great for dual blades. Nargacuga is my favorite fight simply because it’s so much fucking fun to fight with dual blades.

With how crazy important placement is for 2nd gen I never rly latched onto them. I played them more in world and gen cos of how fast paced the games are but it’s always been a novelty weapon for a few hunts then back on the shelf type thing. Aaaallllsoooo they are the oppose of the king of all weapons the OG Longsword the GS.

Tower Vault may seem redundant but it does have its uses. If you fight a flying monster for example, tower vault is incredibly useful for flinging yourself up to its head and then cartwheeling along its body to knock it out of the sky. Also, if you are a fair distance away from a monster and that monster is currently in an attack, you can use it to immediately initiate said cartwheel attack once the monster has finished its attack while staying out of range during it, as initiating the cartwheel midair is not only safer and can be delayed until necessary but launches you quite the distance forward and is a great gap closer as well. So basically, it's used as an alternative for demon flight for when the monster is too high up or you need to wait out and/or dodge a monsters attack first. I always use this switch skill because, frankly, I love the cartwheel too much, smacking flying monsters out of the sky is too much fun and the default skill has such a short duration that it feels lackluster.

May not have been meta but Arial Dual blades were my favorite because of the fact that if done well its basically an adept dodge with mounting damage and it looks so damn c o o l

I get so many sub 5 min runs with them on anything that is either massive or a flying wyvern skeleton. Mix it with Wolfs Maw and it's insane. I had to switch to another weapon to cut the tail on astalos because I'd kill it before cutting it to much.

Hell yeah, lance is up next!!! Even if it is basic, it one hell of a weapon when mastered!

you forgot to mention aerial db. That carried me in generations.

So, 2 things. 1.the kunai attack when it explodes counts as slashing damage tails will just pop off using it, its great but using the kunai you do a backstep that'll put you a little away from hitting the kunai, which goes into number 2. 2. Fearl demon mode when activated will make you step up just a bit and you'll damage the kunai so from what I've noticed its 'use kunai attack get forced into a backstep, feral demon mode into the kunai and make the monsters tail pay' Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

If you're going to use Lance, I highly recommend equipping the shield dash switch skill in Rise ASAP. You will stun the monster almost as much the Bonk. My roommate uses Lance, so can confirm the stunning prowess.

You know what is both slow and methodical, but also has the option to rush in to keep up with the monster at all times? The Lance. The one and truly underrated weapon that true hunters wield.

My favorite part of dual blades in FU is bouncing at 1 or 2 sharpness levels above any other weapon.

I tried out Dual Blades in 4U, I got through low rank but then realized they weren't for me when I timed out on Monoblos, sure I might have had dual blades that were too weak but I think Dual Blades don't really mesh with me since my main weapons are HBG, Lance, and Switch Axe. Side note I am HYPED for the historys of HBG and Lance

The biggest crutch I lean on as a Dual Blades main is Demon Dashes - as I recall, World didn't let you keep using them in Archdemon mode so I spent 90% of that game in Demon Mode with every stamina skill I could fit and that habit has continued with the inclusion of Feral Demon Mode in Rise lol And with Sunbreak letting me use both Demon Mode and Feral Demon Mode interchangeably, I can choose moment to moment whether I want to use the speedier default mode or the higher damage but slower one depending on what I need at the time lol

I've been playing these games since MHFU, and I never gave them a chance, until world that is. I was feeling fed up with my selection of weapon and felt like a change was needed after beating Barioth, and holy shit they are actually so fun, count me as a DB main now.

I have a really weird relationship with the dual blades. It was my main weapon in World for a long time, but then I got bored of them and started trying different weapons and now every time I see someone using the dual blades I want to use them again but get bored immediatly (Sorry if my phrasing is weird, english isn't my first language)

It's opposite for me actually, I learnt to love DB in Gen and GenU with Adept and Aerial style, grew bored when World removed them and was hyped out of my mind when I realised that Rise DB is Aerial and Adept DB but combined into one and without the deficits.

10:13 The doubled sharpness loss was only a thing in base game MH4. MH4U brought back the inherent Razor Sharp mechanic because DB in MH4 was really bad due to how fast it lost sharpness in that game.
