Indeed. He's generally considered one of the three main founding fathers of modern Japan along with Nobunaga and Hideyoshi. Their leadership strategies are generally described in this form: Nobunaga: "If the bird won't sing, I'll kill it." Hideyoshi: "If the bird won't sing, I'll make it sing." Tokugawa: "If the bird won't sing, I'll wait for it to sing."

Even though I'm biased since I live here but I recommend going to the Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia). :) We're always overlooked since our neighbors are bigger and obviously have more to offer (like Poland, Sweden, Finland and Russia) but I would say that we're like the pearls of the Baltic sea.

7:49 Actually I'd like to know why not more americans are interested in learning about the asian theatre of ww2, it was the largest and longest-lasting, really starting with either Japan's invasion of Manchuria in 1931 or Japan starting the 2nd sino-japanese war with China in 1937. though ww2 officially began in 1939 because Britain and France declared war on Germany for invading Poland, on the other side of the world. the 2nd sino-japanese war which was still ongoing was just incorporated as part of the world war, despite starting before, and it would continue on until 1945. not just this but technically the asian theatre was more relevant to the US than the european theatre, considering the fact that the Philippines was still its colony at this point in time, plus prior to joining the war, it was Japan who did something devastating to them with Pearl Harbor, not Germany. Hilter just declared war on the US and that's pretty much it. it's true anyway that americans might identify with europe and its politics and culture a bit more because of their historical ties to it, though I'm attempting to list down some valid reasons to educate yourself and make yourself, an american, more aware of the asian theatre.

When he said conquered the north, it was people native to the island. They did the same that immigrants did in America to the native Americans, up to the 50s. It happened. We just don't learn of it if you research it. Also they were very primitive and believed in ghosts and stuff, which gave rise to the Shinto religion. They borrowed Chinese symbols because they had no written language at the time. So Shinto was Shin-tao. Also the natives are called Ainu.

@@severinvogt2875 It's a translation machine, but you managed to understand it. If there has been a sincere apology for Japan's atrocities so far, there is no reason for Koreans to get angry. However, the Japanese government and the Abe administration are not apologizing, nor are they showing any signs of remorse. The main enemy of our South Korean people is North Korea, but the enemy of 100 years is Japan, and the enemy of 1000 years is China. I understand that Korea is suffering because three sides are made up of the sea, which is sufficient for strategic geographical points. The Korean people will get through these turbulent and difficult times. Korea achieved rapid growth after the Korean War 50 years ago. I'm sure you'll get through it.
