Hi all! I put this video up because there was nothing else (really) on KZread about a timeline of helicopters at the time. Please note the following errors: -Osprey's engines are not accurate, 160th spec ops instead of 106th, Z-10 model, Pronunciation of Chinook Music: youtube.com/@TeXbeaTz Gaming: youtube.com/@TeXplayit Resources: youtube.com/@TeXupply

Austin Olney I don't think you can do a video called history of helicopters without talking about Eurocopter or at least (if for some reason you hate the biggest helicopter manufacturer in the world) the Allouette II wich was the first mass produce turbine helicopter. Or you can call it history of american helicopter and a bit of russian
The Huey will always remain the most beautiful and most epic chopper to me.

The Maiden flight of the little bird was in, 27 Feb 1963, Used in the Vietnam war.
The Tarhe is an underrated and under-appreciated aircraft. It remains the only production helicopter to have enough excess power to push through VRS! Very impressive machine with an extreme amount of power.
Everyone triggered cause the Osprey's engines are incorrect. No one triggered at the fact that they gave the CH-54 AIM-9s.

Yes, but the CH-54 is a heavy lift cargo helicopter, the only true weapon it has carried has been an air-burst bomb used to clear out forests in the Vietnam war. (Also, I'd like to say that aside from some errors, the video is really well done, and I'd like to see more, maybe with a bit more research, or even just something completely different. There is potential here.)

Helicopters are awesome aircrafts, they sound very great when they fly pass low altitude. They should have them flying around the celebration of New Years Day. That will be so awesome, especially about 8 or 10 of them so, following by aeroplanes!

Amazing Video Keep It up
1:03 I'de been happier if you got a model of an actual synchropter here, Fl 265 or Fl 282, that was the the one that had a production line set up and then bombed by the Allies. Those intermeshing rotors are pretty.
Very cool video, I always wondered about the origin of the chopper and this video took my doubt aways.
The Mil Mi-24 Hind and the UH-60 Blackhawk will always remain the most beautiful and most epic chopper to me.
Just imagine if we didn't have Germans and Russians developing stuff for us in the 40s and 50s.
Dadgum son! It isn’t the 106th Aviation Regiment. It’s the 160th! On a different note. The reason the army phased out the Huey was because of its lack of survivability and load capacity. To overcome this. The UH-60 and AH-64 airframes included 2 engines each but can operate on just one. This was in contrast to the single engine UH/AH-1 airframes with one engine. If an engine fails in flight. You’re in a bad spot. With that redundancy, there’s the added benefit of load capacity. 4 rotor blades rather than 2. Which increases lift and load capacity. I work on 60’s. They’re ok. Sikorsky engineers have been creative with what they’ve been able to fit into every nook and cranny. Man is it sometimes a pain to work on from an avionics standpoint. With that said. They have some of the best reliability in the army inventory. Ford pickup truck of army aviation.
Wow i didn’t know some of these helicopters were made in the 60s and 70s cause we still use today
pretty cool. you did say 106th spec ops an, it's 160th.
Awesome job

“Helicaptors”
Helicopters are one of my favorite types of aircraft and since I'm a history type of guy I read about them alot and the interesting and deadly
between 1493 and 1936 - many models of helicopters XVIII century - double-propeller Lomonosov helicopter (Russian) 1860th - aerostat-helicopter (USA) 1880th - Nezhdanovskiy`s project of propeller with jet engines (Russian) 1909 - Yuryev helicopter (Russian) 1915 - Fedotov heavy helicopter project (Russian) 1915 - PKZ-2 helicopter (Austrian)
totally appreciate the 8/8th staccato note
There is one of those Cobra helicopters just sitting in my town on display. Pretty cool looking
My top 3 best helicopters 1.Chinook 2.Hind 3.Apache
The helicopter in Rambo wasn't a Mi-24, it was actually a French Puma heavily modified to look like a Hind.

The OH-6 was around well before the 80s. It served in Vietnam..
Great informative Helicopter video I only wish you could have had multiple changes in music format throughout the vid due to the same music becoming annoying & repetitious. Breaks of music with dead silence also works well to keep the video exciting and maintain a person's attention along with adding a fresh new focus.👍🇺🇸
In the early 1920s, Argentine Raúl Pateras-Pescara de Castelluccio, while working in Europe, demonstrated one of the first successful applications of cyclic pitch.
I am surprised you did not mention the Cornu Helicopter, the first helicopter to successfully achieve lift, developed in 1907. The PKZ-1 and PKZ-2, developed in 1917-1918 Austro-Hungaria, was another very important part of the developmental history of helicopters. Also, if you are going to discuss production helicopters, bring up the Focke-Achgelis Fa 223 and Flettner Fl 282, one of the first helicopters to enter production and military service, being introduced around 1941. Predating the Sikorsky R-4.

The soundcloud link is not working, where can I find the background music? I love it!
For more information, I recommend reading Helicopters: An Illustrated History of Their Impact by Stanley S. McGowen.
Not really that interested in Aviation, but you sir made a good informative video. I usually don't enjoy aviation, but you made it interesting, keep it up 👍👍
Wow this is true aviation history.
That rotating model of the AH64 is a Delta model. Then one brought into service in 75 is the Alpha model. The Delta (Longbow) model has different more complex processors, a more efficient transmission and a more efficient cooling system for the electronics as the helicopter was originally designed to operate in the cold weather of Siberia, but primarily saw combat time in the Gulf War and the Iraq war. We are now on the Echo (Guardian) and it's got another revamped transmission to allow it to keep up with black hawks as it was the slowest helicopter next to the now phased out Kiowa. The FCR (fire control radar) received an upgrade as well as the MPDs, nose gearboxes, IR sensors, laser sensors, and multiple systems such as the hydraulics, ECS, and engine and APU received modifications to ease on maintenance (making my life easier.) However as of now the Army stopped orders of the new Echo model from Boeing as an issue with the Pitch Change links from the factory causes them to break mid flight, which will cause the helicopter to crash and has caused multiple deaths this year alone.
I like the information presented in this video, however sometimes some words were overused in quick succession (mainly in the beginning with the word 'Helicopter') it could be a little offsetting. Lastly, your background music is a touch too loud, it was occasionally difficult to hear small sections of the voice over. Overall, good video. Nice visuals, useful information.
These are all so iconic wtf
I appreciate the inclusion of the native Americans these helicopters were named after.
you missed out on the german Drache helicopter, it wasnt produced in significant numbers, but it definetly deserves a place as one of the first transport helicopters and one of the first at all
Thanks to awesome video from korea ;)
Helicopter has mostly successfully used for rescue and survive program than an airplane. It's an exclusive and awesome invention of science.
