SYNOPSIS:
In the final phases of Emperor Justinian's Renavtio Imperii, the Eastern Roman Empire grows to the largest size it will ever see. The road to this achievement, however, brings misery not just to the enemies of the Byzantine Empire, but to the people of the empire itself.

A great great series I just love Belisarius it's a crying shame how Justinian treated him but one thing I got to give Justin credit for is his activeness he was up and active. he did his worse tried his best. He is a lot better than a lot of emperors who came before and after him in my eyes.

This is a pretty amazing series. You could really do this and all the emperors and I’m sure the views will be pretty high and give you years of content literally.
I love that we're like 12 hours in and yet only 60 years into the byzantine empire. Is there another Playlist with parts 22 through 350?

How much history could have changed had Belisarius gotten a little more help… and better luck, on top of his already generous luck pool
The part where Justinian realized he couldn’t reconquer any more old roman territories due to the lack of manpower, money, and his age, is somewhat sad. This was one of his main goals in his reign. He felt he had divine sanction to do so. To come so damn close to obtaining that goal, only to be stopped short, while at the same time living long enough to realize he would never obtain that goal. I wonder what he felt when he finally came to that realization that there would be no further reconquest.
@FlashPointHx
Жыл бұрын
So insightful!! Yes he knew that time had caught up to him and that there was nothing left of the empire. He had reached his high water mark. I wonder if we all can be so graceful with that recognization?
As always great vid!

The Italians could not catch a break now can they? Imagine being ruled by Goths, then by Eastern Romans then by Goths again, surviving famine and plague, then for the Romans to return, then for the Franks to pillage your home and then for the Lombards to rule over you.
This is cool. I hope you delve a bit more into the early Slavs of this period. I don't think they get enough attention.
Thanks!

Hey thank you so much Vildan
bravo!
Justinian definitely let his paranoia rule his life in his later years and the Empire by extension. Especially considering how shut-in he was, he practically never left Constantinople..maybe anti social idk. Anyway Wonder what Belisarius could have done with the Byzantium Empire, restoration of the whole of the Empire!
Thanks you much

Byzantine armor looks like that Mongolian golden armor wore by Mongol Generals and Warlords in Ghost of Tsushima...They even wear Purple silk clothing beneath The Golden armor...probably traded with the Byzantines during their conquest. Goes to Show how Mongolian Invasion hundreds of years later somehow connected the Byzantine Empire all in the western point and the Japanese Shogunate in the east...all connected by a singular body of state. Just check it out, it's eerily similar.
gotta say Justinian should be known throughout history as The Great(asshole). really... Belisarius should have been born a few centuries later, maybe then he would have been appreciated more, or even be emperor.
