Blues goes way back before the slave emancipation (Civil War). What happened in the early 20th century, 1920's, was the birth of the record industry and revival of blues music played electronically. That being am acoustic guitar or piano in front of a microphone. Some believe Robert Johnson to be the father of the blues, but was just the first blues singer to make a record. As awesome as he was, there were many before his time. Anyway, I really like this video. Don't mind my input, I'm just a music historian enjoying historical music. Carry on!

Interesting because I know most people reference the 1920s. Which, I suppose is fair considering that is where most records of it are from. Thank you for dropping some extra information!

African American influenced music on a global level' All you have to do is listen to what they are doing and what they are saying' The vernacular, the swag, the words and you know it is African American influenced so is reggae music' it is just your version of African American influenced music' Not saying it is not yours because everyone that touches our music adds to the flavor' African Americans during slavery created it out of necessity and culture' because our old African Culture was beaten out of us' so we created a new culture over the years' So we all contributed to the culture but it had its foundation in African American culture of beat making, rap which is CALL AND RESPONSE created as a secret system to communicate withe each other and hide what we were talking about to the slave master' they thought we were just singing and dancing' but we were communicating with wach other how we were about to revolt and free ourselves' but much love
