    "One ship a day" is the understatement of the year. At the peak of its strength, the arsenal could produce a 60 ships strong fleet in 30 days. This because the Serenessima had ALWAYS 60 hulls ready to be made into full "galee". Thia meant they they could absorb losses nobody else could. Also - Arsenale personnel had lifetime employment, paid sick leave, paid retirement, and free food during their work days. The other side of the coin - any any attempt to "leave" or divulge the secrets of the Arsenal meant death

    So lucky I've been to Venice multiple times... jus 1 hrs away from my city... my fav place ever.... every time I go there I'm still amazed by the glory the Venetians had brought to their Republic and you can still see it by how amazing the city is... the Basillica di San Marco was hands off the most beautiful Basillica in the world...

    There are many documentaries to watch about history, but when I hear Epic History's narrator his voice draws me in to watch these instead of others. For me you got to have something unique to keep an audience interested. Best voice hands down!👍😎🤠

    @Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin The Venetians are actually the ones who kickstarted the greedy, money-loving Jewish stereotype. Usury was strictly forbidden in Catholicism, so they worked around it by letting the Jews function as bankers for quite a while.

    very nice documentary. I look forward for the next part. - Additionally I would like to say that in my area Venetian precence was very intense during Morosini expedition in Morea (Peloponnese). If you need any help in your research I can help you. Also we must say not only the Ottoman - Venetian wars but the Venetian wars against pirates.
