8:41 Depends on whether or not you go by Sun Tzu's definition of a good general. If you do, then yes, Robert E. Lee was a bad general, as his victories cost the Confederacy manpower they could not afford to lose. However, this ignores the fact that the goal of the Confederate Army at Gettysburg was to end the war with one decisive victory, as Robert E. Lee recognized that the Confederacy could not replace their losses as easily as the Union.

1:01 To be fair, the Americans saw the most resistance on Omaha and Utah than the British and Canadians did in their beaches, so from a cinematic stance, it makes the most sense to portray the Americans’ perspective since their landings were more bloody.

Utah never even gets portrayed in anything. It's always only Omaha. I get that it's a good setpiece for games and movies because of the near disaster it was but the other landings also saw a fair amount of action. Especially the days after the initial landings where the British and Canadians fought some of the hardest battles against the bulk of German armor

The reason why there's such immense focus on US troops for the D-Day invasion is predominantly because their respective beaches encountered heavier resistance as opposed to the British or the other Allies. This is not to say that the Allies did not encounter any resistance. This is to say, however, Omaha beach alone saw the first two waves of the landing parties completely wiped out before seeing any significant headway passed the defensive positions. And Utah saw significant resistance from the beach and stiff resistance further inland. Not to mention, Pointe Du Hoc and the 90 surviving men of 250 in the 2nd Ranger Battalion.
