It wasn't the Germans having trouble in Greece, just the Italians (as often during this war). Once the Germans arrived they made quick work of Greece. Also technically it wasn't the Russian empire during that period, the USSR was far more powerful than what was the Russian empire during WW1, as they finally industrialized successfully during the early days of their communist regime (at a great human price...). That's why they probably had the second best land army in the world after the Germans.

The Soviets holding up millions of German troops post D-Day. Fair to say without the Soviets holding them up, D-Day would have turned out quite differently.

3:40 the egyptian and greek war were led by the italians, for everyone wondering why the axis loses its first battles. Germany joined in the african and balkan war after the invasion of yugoslavia. Also I believe u switched up norway and sweden. edit: You switched up Sweden with what is actually norway, and norway with whats acutally finland

This is a good video, and the moving map with troop numbers is a really interesting variation on the kind of thing that Eastory is putting out. There are a few errors in the text below, but most of them are minor, and most folks do not read all the text anyway. Obviously, the limitation of the video is that it only depicts Europe's war, with just North Africa included outside of the European continent...which is largely understandable since compiling the numbers and matching them to the moving map is hard enough. However, I think that Christopher could have brought much more attention to some other highly critical theaters of World War 2 that existed on his map if he had shown the numbers of people fighting the Battle of the Atlantic, as well as those who were employed in the taking of Iran and the making of it into the route for something like 40 percent of the supplies sent to the USSR. It also would have been a real improvement if the original video showed the numbers of Allied troops building up in England, as well as showing the numbers of airmen involved in bombing the Axis and the numbers of troops defending against that bombing. Of course, it is easy for me to critique Christopher's work, but that is just some constructive ideas for how it could have been even better.✌

The USSR and Russia are absolutely not the same thing. When you say "Russians" you insult a huge number of other peoples who gave their lives for the sake of victory: Ukrainians, Belarusians, Kazakhs, Georgians, Kyrgyz, etc. In total, the USSR lost more than 20 million people. Much more than all the other allied countries combined

My Grandpa fought for the Wehrmacht at the east front against the Russians, he got captured at the end of 1944 and was deported to Siberia for 2 years, almost without food, only 3 out of 10 survived that. He often told me stories about the war how fast and effective their actions were at the beginning and how the german commanders did a great job there. He also mentioned every time how sad it was that the nazis took over the German army and wasted it all for nothing.
