    Fun fact fries were invented by the Belgians from Belgium where they speak Dutch, French and in a small part of the country German. American soldiers ate fries when they were in the Ardennes of Belgium where most people speak a variation of French. They didn't know they were Belgians because they couldn't hear the difference and called it French Fries even though they were from Belgium.

  • @liamengram6326

    @liamengram6326

    2 жыл бұрын

    You mean the Smosh Games crew that actually enjoyed playing games in their free time? In the recent "Who Meme'd It" they talked about how the video game videos don't get views any more. It's because: 1. They play the same crappy games over and over. 2. They don't do them Game Bang style anymore. 3. Shayne and Damien seem to be the only ones who actually like games and they don't even try because the others are so inept. The same happened to Board AF. When they had people there that actually like tabletop games they had epic series like HeroQuest, Colt Express, Zombiecide, Goblins and Mechs, the Hero Clix games, etc... now they just pick whatever games you can learn the rules of in 3 minutes and it's basically turned in to a show where they play what 14 year old girls would play at a sleepover. They don't actually showcase any cool new games with cool mechanics anymore. And they only seem to make a new Board AF now when Exploding Kittens makes an entirely new game with all the same mechanics as the past 15, but with one new card.

    @@liamengram6326 you made some very good points there. I really do miss game bangs with the old games crew even tho that was mainly in the defy era. At least smosh games were actually...games. Now smosh games and smosh pit have become this weird hybrid of eachother where you often don't even know on which of the 2 channels you are untill you go check. That's not to say that I really like some of the new content as well like who memed it and beopardy and especially tntl but as far as games go it's a bit lackluster. But hey in the end I just want them to be able to create what they prefer. If they aren't really into playing video games or board games with complicated rules then that's absolutely fine. As I said I enjoy the new content, but sometimes I do wonder if they should keep this separation between pit and games when there is basically no point anymore.

  • @liamengram6326

    @liamengram6326

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@brent8407 Yeah, I have nothing against the new content. Was mostly giving my take on why their gaming content likely isn't pulling as many views these days. If people wanted to watch people just play video games they'd go watch people who are good at those video games, or are experienced at doing let's play content. What made Smosh Games' video game content unique was the large tournament style with a twist format of Game Bang, or the story telling of series like Maricraft. They were also more apt to go out and find silly indie games that weren't as well known at the time (games like Brawlhalla and Gang Beasts got huge boosts from Smosh playing them). And with Board AF, I know it's a pain in the ass to learn more complicated games, but those games _WORK_ for Smosh because of how much the cast like to get in to a character. They don't have to be super involved games like Gloomhaven or Scythe, but it would be nice to see one every now and then that's a little more complex and offers some chances for storytelling. Like, Mice and Mystics isn't overly complicated but would still allow the players to develop a character and tell a story. That game is _maybe_ as "complicated" as Colt Express which I think is one of the best games they've ever done on Board AF.

  • @brent8407

    @brent8407

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@liamengram6326 yeah very true, but yeah I feel like the people who cared the most about that style board game or just video games in general have all left. Shayne and Damien are indeed the only ones left who would still love to play more video games but yeah compared to their other content it would almost be a waste of time to create. Probably even if they would bring the old game bang concept back the videos wouldn't do as good anymore now. They already gathered a new audience around tntl by now.
