Part 1 of 3. Courtesy of the East Anglian Film Archive- Ransomes Film Unit produced many publicity films for general audiences. The film unit was run by Don Chipperfield who worked for the company from the 1930's-1980's. The first video that Don was involved in is this silent movie 'Speed the Plough' showing the making of trolleybuses at Orwell Works by the docks in Ipswich

Amazing film footage of Ransomes history. 'Speed the Plough' as an expression in English has such resonance. In pre-industrial times most people in England were tied to the land as farm labourers. Today farm work is underpaid and under valued. But people still want cheap fruit and veg and cheap meat products to go with it. Food production is vital. Support our farmers. Check out the great Morris tune, 'Speed the Plough', Bampton Morris do it extremely well. Love and peace.
