HISTORIC NASA FILM APOLLO 13 "HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM" 34062

This historic NASA film, "Houston We Have A Problem" tells the story of the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission. Apollo 13 was the seventh manned mission in the American Apollo space program and the third intended to land on the Moon. The craft was launched on April 11, 1970, at 13:13 CST from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, but the lunar landing was aborted after an oxygen tank exploded two days later, crippling the Service Module (SM) upon which the Command Module (CM) depended. Despite great hardship caused by limited power, loss of cabin heat, shortage of potable water, and the critical need to jury-rig the carbon dioxide removal system, the crew returned safely to Earth on April 17.
The flight was commanded by James A. Lovell with John L. "Jack" Swigert as Command Module Pilot and Fred W. Haise as Lunar Module Pilot. Swigert was a late replacement for the original CM pilot Ken Mattingly, who was grounded by the flight surgeon after exposure to German measles.

I like how they use actual voices and com to tell the story. And not in a Discovery Channel way. This might actually the best Apollo 13 docu. i've seen. It even has the full "guessing" quote. And it has Lovells "at least something worked" quote. And unlike the movie it at least hints on the fact that there were other flight directors involved than Gene Kranz.

”We got a problem” or ”we have a problem”? Neither is correct.

The company they hired to do the films of the Apollo missions always used that sound. It has usually been described as oil drum music.
