So it would not be her place to determine what defines todays standings of what it is to be a woman. The question was a clear red flag for them to divert the conversation into transgendered citizens. Don’t be mad because she didn’t fall for it.

She is more than highly qualified, and certainly more qualified than the last two judges confirmed to the supreme court.

I've been saying for years that Joe has a history of making mistakes, just like everyone else in the world. But he also has a long history of acknowledging his mistakes and trying to learn from them while trying to make sure others don't make his same mistakes. He also has a long history of continually moving more to the left in line with the country moving to the left, not just the Democratic party. Because there has previously never been a black woman to sit on the SCOTUS this wouldn't have merit in DC which still has affirmative action laws in place. If you try to counter to say that Washington repeal Affirmative Action laws though, I would then counter and say that it was Washington state not Washington DC. @@NoahStew It's even simpler than that. The President gets to nominate whoever she or he wishes, for whatever reasons they wish, and can state any of them or not, and congress gets to advise (what we're doing now) and consent (the upcoming vote.) And that's it. That's the law.

Generally speaking, Ari is excellent at breaking down issues in the news in a manner that is understandable, interesting and speaks to those with Ivy league educations, as well as those who are high school drop-outs. Republicans are literally trying to ban black history in schools and they gutted the voting rights act of 1965, which was the bill that ended Jim Crow laws. If this were a republican candidate she would already be confirmed and the right would be appalled at democrats questions. Another example of how, a court that is supposed to be impartial that shouldn’t allow personal or religious thoughts to impact decisions, is once again politicized by Congress and the focus of questions posed. It is ridiculous that the Supreme Court is “conservative or liberal” they should be impartial judges that are there to interpret the laws passed by Congress, not use personal beliefs, religion, or politics to weigh in. Judge Jackson is absolutely more than qualified to sit on the Supreme Court and the questioning she endured by the right is absolutely appalling to see and those senators should be ashamed of themselves but unfortunately they do not have that level of integrity. Confirm our next justice now!

If the teacher was chopping me up the way the judge is doing them,I would go take a seat in the back of the room in a corner and be quiet.

I love when Graham, a member of the political part that tried to end democracy on Jan 6th, stomps off like the big drama queen he is feigning fake indignation. Laughable!

Judge Jackson is a breath of fresh air and a truly wonderful lady who represents the best in this Country.

I am sadly realizing a lot of white Americans, especially older ones live in fear. Fear of change and fear of losing privilege and having to settle for maybe merit. I refuse to live like that or think like that. Choose to love everybody and respect all. What is so hard to do that. For Cruz to challenge Judge Jackson about the contents of a single book, offered in the library of the school her child attends, is beyond bizarre. It makes me wonder about the army of staff these people have, working behind the scenes to dig up these strange, out of context, things to attack Judge Jackson with. Like, someone was actually tasked with going thru a listing of every book in a school library to find any possible example of something they could 'use' to attack her. As if her job as a judge is in any way relevant to the contents of a school library. I wonder how a person applies for such a job, what's the hiring criteria? How much does it pay? How would you even go about seeking such a job? Now Hiring: Investigator Specializing In Digging Up Spurious Dirt On Potential Judicial Appointees. Requirements: Must be able to crawl in gutters, perceive things in the remotest possible way to anything that can be even marginally construed as 'negative'. Must be willing to present ridiculous findings in a quasi-serious manner and keep a straight face. Wow.

As a bystander and watching this, I know my training as a Canadian covert for 22 years we were trained to get our future detainee befuddled, talking in circles, and when watching the defence attorneys go after us, and try to trash our case, it is apparent that some of these people questioning her are truly outsmarted, when she pauses before answering watch the questioner, almost ready to go after again, she speaks and then watch them fall apart, she's thrown their course that they want her to go off, it is why Graham walked, he couldn't regain himself, he was off the rails and knew it. As I said I watched a bunch of this, in my career from a covert office, she is brilliant. No tripping her up, she will be tough on the bench on the opinionated ones no doubt.

Its sad seeing what the Republican Party has turned into but I believe they were always that way just quiet about it

I love the way she stared at Cruz for a solid two seconds before answering such a question. It felt like an adult is in the room, which is unusual these days in the Senate.

One thing is certain. She was being questioned by intellectual imbeciles. Don't get me wrong, the likes of Cruz, Graham and Hawley should be working at The Capitol but their hands should be on a lawnmower or toilet brush.

Their questions are for political gain. Never seen questions like these in my life. Man they are so radical. Supreme Court up holds the Law, not a religion, political party, education.....those are the government's job, the Senator's who are asking questions. They should be drilled like this for their job in front of all American Citizens.

Based on what I have observed so far, she has conducted herself impeccably, answered questions intelligently, and frankly, shown herself to be on a level of class that exceeds A LOT of the congresspeople involved in this hearing. These same Republicans who are trying to discredit this qualified woman from the supreme court, for allegedly being soft on crime and sexual misconduct sentencing. Approved a guy with 3 sexual misconduct allegations against him. He also cried and threw fits of rage during his hearings. Imagine if she did either of the things he did. Forget sexual misconduct, if she jaywalked, cried or got upset about a question and displayed it. She would be vilified. Yet she displays intelligence poise and dignity, and they're still trying to discredit her and defended the other guy for the whole world to see. Yet half the country refuse to truly see what is going on.
