    Ah so nice to see botok botok in this video. I believe that dish is originally from Java, Indonesia. It's also called bobotok in Indonesia. The coconut turmeric spice blend looks so beautiful! Oh man it's been a while since we had bobotok, I don't think we can find here in Australia 😨 Haha yep looks healthy because it's steamed, but be careful of the use of coconut, it might add some extra calories haha..

    Mmmmmmmmmmmm Pisang goreng.... you guys are getting all the good Malaysian snacks! First time seeing it with a sambal kicap condiment to go with the pisang goreng. So interesting that even though pisang goreng (or any basic dish) is available almost every where in Malaysia, each state has its own twist and unique way of eating, and different variation of the same dishes too.

    This was such a fun video, whenever we travel we love to experience old, local eateries like these restaurants you featured.     Yay, one of my favorite couples are back. 83 years is awhile to have any business!!!! The history of the places you go and eat really adds a great element. You are right Greg, it is like stepping back in time. I bet the food tasted so good. That smoky taste is something you can't beat.

    That dish with all the leaves and sauce. There are so many beautiful unique dishes that we have never seen before and it's always fascinating seeing what people eat in other parts of the world.     so cool that they use the woodfire oven, usually saw restaurants use it for pizza but this is for banana bread, this looks so famous among locals which is a really good sign.

    Wow an 83 year old oven baking those amazing treats. That's so cool, with Greg authentic places like this are the treasures of the world.     Love these historic spots! Definitely treasures and exactly why we want to highlight them. You guys gotta try this spot. The botok2 is crazy good - definitely a must eat! Keep it all in mind for your next Malaysia visit. So worth stopping in Johor!

    Karipap Ayam is looking so puffy and delicious! There is a similar looking bourek type in Turkish cuisine filled with feta cheese rather than potatoes

    Oh yes!!! Pisang goreng, we love pisang goreng so much. Because of so many varieties of pisang especially in South East Asia, different places selling pisang goreng has its own unique pisang goreng style. We love pisang raja too! It's a type of banana that is great for deep frying. In Indonesia, for pisang goreng, we also love to use pisang tanduk (like plantain), pisang nangka, pisang kepok, but agree with Greg that pisang raja is so sweet, perfect if you like sweet ripe banana 👍 Oh you guys also eat pisang goreng with sambal kecap/kicap in Johor Bahru, similar to in Makassar, Indonesia, they eat pisang goreng with sambal😍
