The Scottish, Welsh and Irish are always going to be well received, who can bring culture, work, food to this region of Argentina, but not as a British community serving England.

Worst comment I’ve seen. As a welsh and BRITISH Patagonian, I find this quite offensive. All of my family members were from Wales, Scotland and England, all the ships sailed from Liverpool to Patagonia.. and you can check this in the Red book record. We weren’t just welsh. Being British doesn’t mean being English. And Being English as an immigrant, doesn’t equal to being or acting the same as your country’s politicians. We settled in Patagonia when it wasn’t divided between countries. We weren’t immigrants to Argentina, so please consider that a very important fact. We voted for Argentina in 1902, to remain inside as a colony and they gave up the land claim for us before 1865, but later claimed it again in 1881 removing the land granted for the colony. Y wladfa was and will keep being a British colony, and majority welsh. With immigrants from all over the British former nations. Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Cornwall, Brittany, England and North America. Without them, we wouldn’t be Patagonians. Our culture doesn’t exist in wales, because many things evolved here thanks to our diversity and immigration culture. The importance of our colony was to take back the name BRITISH stolen by the English, to keep our Brythonic language alive, welsh. *which eventually depended on English too, and sadly, later on Spanish) our customs, our religion (Protestant diversity and Anglican chapels), our political ideology (liberal), our food and other customs which many evolved due to the presence of other immigrants. Now we are in Argentina they took over all these important goals we settled as a colony. I dislike how Argentina had to group all of us and our culture as welsh, but that’s only in the Spanish language, because our language has other names for it. It’s had how they did that to assimilate us and avoid saying the presence and history of other people and groups like the English were also in the south. New bay, Port Desire.. they have also changed the name of our towns. They did the exact same thing the English did back in wales, so I’m not sure if they both, the argies and the sais aren’t like cousins..
